Game Day Match Discussion: Round 10 vs. Sydney, Fri 15/05 at 7:30pm (SCG)

It's a long time since I have been so flat in the leadup to a game. It reminds me of the mid 1980's when Hawthorn and Essendon were powerhouses and all you hoped for was a sub seven goal thumping when Collingwood's turn came to place their collective heads on the chopping block.

Absence of excitement also means an absence of stress so that's not a bad thing.

Come on man- if you can’t get excited about seeing how our kids perform, then I’m not sure why you’d even bother to watch the game.

It's going to be a weird game day thread with BigVic suspended. What will be do without the regular comments about Bailey Smith winning a brownlow, Geelong being premiers, and talking about their favourite NHL, NBA, NFL, EPL teams?

After a bad game you look to an improved performance. The injuries make things difficult. There is much to watch in terms of roles, loads and youngsters. In a match we have Haynes, Steene as first ruck, Parker, Anderson, Steele and Buller. Many opportunities. I hope for very good performances. Go Pies.

I'm actually excited for this game, looking forward to seeing what some of these kids can do, especially West, probably the youngest side we've fielded for quite some time.

I'm glad to see Hayes back, he looks lively in our forward line, be good to see what headaches Hill and Hayes can cause in our forward 50 in the next couple of years.

I wonder if they'll put Parker on Papley, he kept Higgins quite a couple of weeks back.

I still hold out hope for Allan, there's still a number of rounds to go.

Yep, I'm the same. I think this year will be all about developing the newer players when we can. I have hopes for all those brought in. We have one of each:

KPP, small defender, small forward, midfielder.

I basically agree with you، in that I don't think we're contending either, but we should have beaten Freo and the Hawks. So we're still a good core.

Are you taking the f’n piss?? Coulda, woulda, shoulda ….. Carlton are saying that about their unlucky loss to Collingwood.

The football department selects a squad of 23 each week that shall contend. We enjoy watching how that plays out.

Why so mad?

We had the better of Freo all bar the scoreboard. We played one of the most efficient forward half games of all time against Hawthorn.

Howes has looked very good in the VFL recently. A very safe overhead mark. Reads the flight of the ball really well. Hope we see him in the AFL soon.

I’d say Freo midfield is better - we held Amiss, Treacy and Voss, without Moore.
So I think we shouldn’t be intimidated by the Swans.
