I’d keep him in the whole year - he offers a lot with his running capacity, which is underrated. Agree the the #1 thing to work on is defensive pressure

Obviously a poor game today, but he’s demonstrated he has the tools for AFL footy. Just needs more time to work on things at that level. Playing VFL wouldn’t help imho

Geelong have been training guys for specific roles in the vfl for forever. Senior side isn't a development team when you're aiming for finals

We've barely made any unforced changes but I think there’s a few at Casey who deserve a go now.

Geelong have been training guys for specific roles in the vfl for forever. Senior side isn't a development team when you're aiming for finals

Geelong have had better depth than we do this year which has allowed them to do that. This was meant to be our rebuild year which has turned into a shot at finals. There’s quite a few guys developing in the seniors at the moment.

That being said wouldn’t mind seeing Matthews get a shot but he’s developing too.

Which you're saying Latrelle couldn't develop in the twos but Matthews can.

Backing him in doesn't mean he has to play every game for the rest of his life. Played a couple decent games but also looked incredibly lost at AFL level a couple times aswell. Nothing wrong with developing the right habits before getting a guaranteed game

Which you're saying Latrelle couldn't develop in the twos but Matthews can.

As PuppetMaster said above, AMW would be the logical inclusion if he does go out. Definitely has more defensive upside.

i'm going to lose it this week if i see any promo videos of Latrelle saying "thats what we do". He's been really hard to carry as a team. I'm confident he'll make it but he needs to stick to the basics.

I’m all for him going back to the Magoos to get some form. Can’t carry him with our current ladder position and he was pretty shit last night.

But yeah, no idea where kids like Latrelle get their confidence from. What happened to earning your stripes? Anyway, he'll improve. Just hoping it doesn't cost us too many games in the process.

Literally just comparing two Aboriginal kids.
Latrelles all straight lines and pace and none of the goal smarts or side step of Koz. Koz was physical from Day 1, Latrelle couldn't be more opposite

I might be wrong, haven't seen every post, but I thought most people comparing him to Koz were just comparing in terms of development? Koz was pretty inconsistent and had low numbers when he started and he's just gradually built up the consistency and impact. That's what most think is happening with Latrelle I think? Has the talent, but so far is mostly messy and inconsistent. Has shown those few glimpses that he can really play, but he can't put it together yet.

Completely different style of player, but the development trajectory is how I took the comparison.

Yeah and that's totally fair, but we all know how big the jump is to AFL footy.

I'm not defending his form at all, and I'm interested to see how sKing handles it, I'm just not writing him off yet or making big claims about him when he's just a few games into his career.

I completely agree with your take about his defensive pressure though. That's the one thing he should be bringing no matter how fumbly he is or how bad his decisions are.

A spell at Casey to focus on defensive things for a few weeks is probably due.

Laurie an obvious whipping boy who's had some big ****ups, but his tackling and pressure as a small forward has been much better which is important with JVR, Jeffo, Fritsch, a ruck and now Petty floating through there.
