incorrect, a proper structured game plan for 25 games is not viable when at least half the players have only played 10 games or less with each other with 0, 1, 2 preseasons completed and with 5 or 6 of your best chess pieces sitting in the grandstand. it becomes a weekly work in progress and Adem and the boys are doing tremendously well.

Incorrect. You plan each week according to the oppoosition but the essence of your game plan remains steady. Look at the swans. look at even collingwood. since yze has been at the club all I have seen is chip and then long bombs. and it is clearly not him but the assistants, what on earth are our forward coaches doing? How many times do our talls compete for the ball when they should be spreading, blocking and organising. Yes I get that we have had injuries, but we need a system that works, my point is giving them so many uncontested possessions pressures our back line too much. pressure contested footy forces mistakes, we are soft and we dont tackle.....I am very worried with the lack of development that this game plan is showing.

Let’s move Gray forward and Nank in the ruck. Or how about we try Gibcus fwd? Oh wait, we can’t. His hands are tied.
its the lack of intensity around manning up that worries. Yze is zone crazy thats fine if we have the players with skill to execute, so many players today got easy kicks from an opposition (us) that failed to pressure, chase and man up. our mids were crushed yet again.

Great game from Jonty. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing but he's almost our best field kick 40m+ absolutely bullets them.

Ooze needs to cop the fine and come out and give the umps a whack.. we've gone soft through the rebuild and we need more Jonty campaigners out there

The difference between the tigers and Euro-Joke is we are going to have higher draft picks. With open cheating from the umpires gifting a minimum 5 goals, 19 injured players - 4-5 players that should not be in the team (we should be managing kids and resting Veterans), Euro-joke should have absolutely belted us. They look nothing like a finals side.

Clearly restricted by who we can field in the side - anyone with a pulse at this rate - we can't manage players during the match. Can't plan ahead and rest players. A few looked cooked - Grlj, Cumming and Burton. We can't expect these kids to perform and stick to a developing gameplan. I really feel for the players - they are trying their hardest but NOTHING goes our way on match day - except Euro-Joke not belting the crap out of us. So that's a positive.

Really liked Tresize, Miller and Short down back - they copped it stupid from the umps but still stood up. Campbell on ball was good at times and when we changed the angles it did look like some sort of gameplan. Hart to execute with so many players missing, but there are REALLY good signs from Fawcett and Faull in particular. Lynch was ok, just glad he is fit and helping the young talls. Hopper was much better than previous weeks and Ross had good moments. Loved NRT first two goals - well done.

In - Lefau
Out - Gray

and a special "eff off" to the media if they go after Vlastuin for that tackle. We get sweet FA reward for HTB so just EFF OFF. Point the microscope the absolute rorting and cheating done by the umps you clowns.
the opponent failed to protect his own head. Just like the Mansell incident last year.

It was pretty poor quality footy.

More injuries, despite the tempo being like a praccy. Positives Faull & Short. Nrt kicked a cpl & despite Fawcett doing a fair bit wrong, kicked 3.

I still dont see a gameplan to get excited about tho. And it still looks like several players are going backwards

I thought Hopper was our worst. Saints mids ran off him in two steps and his hands were awful. Anyway he is nowhere near best 23 when we get some troops back.
I agree. Taranto and Hopper are one contestant players. As soon as the ball moves to the outside they get left behind.

Roast: Not the first time, but can someone explain how these Saints nuffies always seem chirpy to oppo supporters at the ground? It's so easy to remind them of their lack of success. Baffling!
They think success is winning in the home and away season

Player Review

1. Vlastuin - been better the last few weeks after a tough start to the season. Not sure if he'll be there Friday night given MRO Lotto.

2. Hopper - same shit different day.

5. Ross - continued with his recent run of good form overall, but was part of a midfield unit that was well beaten where it matter most.

8. Faull - amazing what a bit of confidence can do for a young player. Attacked the contest strongly and got the rewards as a result, which was a good return against Wilkie who has been very good this year.

11. Trainor - asked to play as a KPD once Gray got hurt. Did ok all things considered with the weight of numbers for the Saints inside 50.

12. Miller - easily his best game for the year IMO. Defensively very strong and used the ball reasonably well when given the chance.

14. Taranto - not sure if the Saints sat on him or not as it wasn't obvious at the game, but to end with just 14 disposals from 82% TOG is concerning, especially when we needed our midfield leaders to stand up.

15. Short - usual performance, got his fair share of disposals on the outside, but just doesn't hurt teams with them. To put it another way all of Taranto Retschko Miller Ross & Grlj gained more metres than Short with few disposals.

19. Lynch - look at the stats and see 2 goals from 5 disposals and you may think he was poor, but his presence can't be underestimated in our F50. He just makes the structures so much more predictable to teammates up field.

21. Balta - sure we got beaten in the middle but I couldn't fault his effort today. He busted his backside to make a contest and should have been rewarded a few times for blatant interference in the ruck contests. Will be interesting to see if the role remains now that Gray has got hurt or if he goes back into D50.

22. Cumming - 4 games in 23 days has sapped him especially after he'd missed a few weeks to start the year. Still some touches he has shown his class and getting games into him now will pay dividends down the track. How many more they give him will be interesting.

24. Grlj - started slowly but worked his way into the game as it wore on with 10 disposals in the 2nd half including some of that run and carry that had been missing before he had the week off.

27. Roberts-Thomson - a lot to like from his first game. Found space well and got 2 goals as a result of good pressure for the first and execution to finish for the 2nd. Hopefully gets bit of a go even as others come back in.

33. Retschko - from point post in D50 to the 50m line up forward, this kid covers more ground that the Leyland brothers. Not only that but when he does get it, he looks to drive it forward.

35. Broad - like Vlastuin he started the season slowly, but has been better the last few weeks. Wonder how long they'll persist with him in the senior side as we look to transition to the next generation.

36. Trezise - played his role well enough getting back to help in D50 with some good intercepts. Not sure where he sits in the overall scheme of things when we've got less injury concerns, but is making it hard to omit him when that happens.

40. Sonsie - tale of 2 halves yet again, but this time the reverse of his usual output where he has a ok first half and then poor 2nd. This time it was a poor first half and ok 2nd half. Like Trezise it's hard to see where he fits in when we've got more options to choose from.

43. Fawcett - 3 kicks 2 marks 3 goals. Fair to say he was efficient with his disposals, but overall it showed why Lefau and Faull were preferred ahead of him when Lynch returned. Another one playing for his future.

44. Campbell - was great to see him start in the middle and provide a bit of spark with his speed around the contest, it was just unfortunate that our midfield was soundly beaten which meant his touches were not as impactful as they could have been.

45. Burton - like Cumming he seemed to be feeling the pinch from 4 games in 23 days as he didn't seem to be covering the ground as well as he was the last 2 weeks even though he racked up nearly 15km covered for the game.

47. Hayes-Brown - soundly beaten in the ruck contests even though he had a height advantage over both Marshall & TDK. The setback to Nankervis means that we're stuck with either him or Ryan supporting Balta in the short term, and that's if Balta doesn't get sent back into D50 with Gray out.

48. Green - quiet game for Steely as there wasn't much opportunity when the ball hit the ground inside our F50. Still he got up and down the ground to ensure he was an option at times coming out of our back half.

50. Gray - unfortunately joins the injury list with a hamstring after an ok start to the game.

With Ryan Lefau & Smith to choose from as replacements for Friday night it will be interesting to see who they turn to for Gray, Lefau seems the obvious answer, which would allow Balta to head back to D50 to help Miller. Other option would be Ryan to partner OHB in the ruck, Balta to D50 and keep Lynch Faull & Fawcett up forward. Smith may also get a call up if Cumming isn't able to get up given he was on the bike to end the game

Watched on catch up, scoreboard doesn’t show how far off we are against a mid table team with two rucks that suit the new rules.

Q1

Our first minute injury was trainor this time 😢

Umps sucked off the aints from the very first second.

Frees paid to St Kilda, or not paid to Richmond

Farthager ran into the ump

Vlastuin tackled Higgins exactly like dangerfield did

De koning pushed balta in the back

Balta didn’t push de koning in the back

De koning pushed balta in the back again

Ohb not paid the mark that spilled over the boundary

Caminiti umpired his own free

Htb against cumming when he had no prior

No htb to grlj

Poor skills and deserved to be well down. Short Ross Campbell poor disposal in particular. Ruined at stoppages. Trying to play contested footy because it’s the lower skill option and they’re well on top of us.

At least we got a bit of luck, great tackle first goal and second goal from NRT.

Q2

Bit more luck to begin. Great work from lynch and Faull to get Taranto our third goal.

Gray out with a hammy, burton shoulder concerns.

We’re just getting it to the middle of the ground and it’s intercepted and coming straight back. We’re letting them get easy goals and yet again having to work so hard to score.

Why wasn’t ohb given the shot at goal from the centre circle with 1 second to go.

Q3

our defence is not manning up in the absence of gray. Umps giving the aints a reacharound again especially paying them a free off even what the commentators said was a great spoil by Faull. Then straight up inside 50 Hall drops a mark but gets a free shot.

Q4

Wilkie has let Faull play his best game. Umpires stopped the game off a ruck contest and let them get another goal. We’re doing the thing we did in the second quarter to gift them uncontested possessions and goals. They get to the out of reach hundred. Maggots finally pay us a block and balta sets it back to as you were. St Kilda play on after the whistle for a non free and that campaigner caminiti gets a cheat goal.
Add two blatant push in the back against Fawcett and a blatant hold on Faul in the goal square in the last. Richmond should do a press release and show the video of these incidents. Don’t claim bias just ask for clarification

Trainor didn't do ok

Short had 25 touches at 100%DE.

What more do you want from him when the team is this shit?
