My Essendon supporting wife and father in law have been trying to win my son over, tonight he yelled out yes we won go tigers! Was a special moment
cook him the finest chicken steaks tomorrow for lunch

Ralphsmith can't replace Retschko. both pretty average disposal but Retschko is getting so much more involved atm. dunno if there's a place for Ralphsmith with a few of the others rotating through the other wing

The fact Ralphsmith’s career high for disposals is 23 in 67 games should highlight just how ridiculous it is that he was even picked ahead of Retschko in the first place.

Doesn’t tackle, doesn’t mark, doesn’t get the ball… but gets picked. Absolute madness!

In 6 games Retschko has recorded more than 23 disposals twice, 22 disposals and has more marks and tackles than Ralphsmith.

What to say:
Well done Shorty - good game and well done on 200 games
Jack Ross - was never in my Captain nominations but after the last few weeks, he's stood up, I'd back him for permanent captain
Tarranto - good game without being a game-changer. What we've come to accept,
Backs.
Miller I don't think is a natural leader. Really needs another dominant KPD besides him. Not Balta.
Trainor - hopefully tonight was good for his development. I would have left him on Caddy all night, even if given a complete bath. Rance was worse when he first started.

OHB. Hardly sighted him. With Sampson at least I would have noticed some dropped marks, etc. Think Balta offers so much more as the Nank support
Retshko - had a few really smart disposals, many average, but **** me, love his workrate.
Sonsie - worth persisting with. Think just needs a real pennydrop moment and will never look back.

Jonty. Looked OK until the concussion. Forced rest won't hurt him
Steely - Small forward is a harshly critical role. Can't complain with his output.
Alger showed real potential. Ahead of NRT

And, my favourite comment in the game day thread
Tarranto does look like a guy who has just had a root.
Always. Every game. Smug, happy looking campaigner

Felt like going back in time.
Huge Tiger Army turnout.

78k and bottom of the ladder.

You beautiful Tigers!

The game nearly sent me to sleep in the third quarter but we fought and fought and won.

The taste of winning is unstoppable.

We won just as I expected. And how I expected.

One coach looking for a new job this week I'd guess. Dead coach bounce means we still get pick 1.

3rd quarter sucked, otherwise fairly good to very good.

Ross good, TT good, plenty of good. Not much was outstanding, but really solid team effort.

The whipping boys, Sonsie and Hopper were good. If Sonz got that goal he'd have had a really solid game. And Hopper burnt them off at least once!!!! Weird.

You can see what we are trying to do, and with more maturity and some better distributors it'll work. Lalor would have added several goals to us this game - time and space to work.

Many injuries, which sucks. Hope Faull is OK, will miss next week.

That was fn awesome
I’m so happy that Brad Scott’s on the sacrificial stone with his throat about to be cut to please the Richmond gods
whilst I wait at the tram stop next to Essendon supporters, I’m giggling my small nasty head off
Scott’s head coming off 😂

Great write up
You forgot Lefau, what a beast.

Good to get the win and off the bottom of the ladder but oh boy Yze strategy after half time of chip and set structure with the oppos several players down on injury rotation.

if we played Williamstown football club under Justin Plapp and not the Druggiez. It would be Plappy taking home the chocolates and the Seagulls squawking.

Retshcko ran over the ground well all day. Lynch very important as possible.

Think Trainor, Grlj, Burton could all do with a rest when the reinforcements come back. Thought Miller was poor after being excellent last week.
I thought Millar was quality again

Ross
Retch
Timmy
Shorty
- top notch

Floss
Seth
Steely
- good games

Lynch marked well

Balta came through when it counted

Hopper was useful at time that was a plus

Genie, please grant me the wish of being a fly on the wall during the HT address tonight.

Seriously though, the game plan seemed to be the antithesis to what the game state was.
