You can see why Brain hasn't been picked but you can also see why he should be picked on tonight's performance..I'm on team back the brain. Must love head..

Why? Surely as adults we can talk about football without sex. This and getting turned on and blah blah blah.

So much to discuss tonight. Are we really so lacking in originality and reflections on the game that we need to bulk up our comments with sexual innuendo?

Boring.

Brain was great. Didn't look overwhelmed. Couple of times he was under pressure but didn't fold, took it on.

Like him get a run of games to see if he has more to offer.

The new boys stepped up and did exactly what was asked of them. Brain has earned the right to hold his spot, and Tunstill backed it up with another brilliant outing, his second high‑quality performance at senior level this year. Yet, frustratingly, he still won’t get any real continuity, because he’ll almost certainly make way for McCarthy's return next week.

In many ways the best performance of the year, even though seriously undermanned. Lots of players stood up and it seemed to be a real team effort defensively. So much more pressure than the last few weeks. Four good quarters.

If we have learned anything it is that we win on the back of team defensive pressure followed by forward 50 pressure. I think that is the mantra now - defend as a team from the get go. Once that is working we seem to click into the groove going forward.

Brain deserves more time at this level. He showed a lot running both ways. Some of Bruce’s disposals were elite. Jimmy T also showed good signs. Will looked more lively and dangerous at the contest. McKenna’s best game in a while.
Totally agree afl but I just got to say I love your paragraphing
Just invites me in

No need to rush McCarthy back with the bye the following week.

Turnstill reminds me of jed adcock. He moves the way i remember sdcock moving and I reckon they go about the job in the same way.

Would love to see him stay in for a while too.

With the bye one week off they might reward tonight's team and give the returning injured players another two weeks. Not that they will want it. I imagine hippy is super keen to get back.

I could watch Darcy Wilmot all day...his energy never stops, his runs always look so impressive.

Throw some extra money at him too.

..what more can you say about Logan. Unbelievable talent and he's ours.

Throw several extra noughts on whatever he is getting right now too. Must keep, no matter the cost!

Last week I made a comment about Kai needing to up his game.....I didn't mean getting a silly haircut like that!

..make him bring back his long locks please Fages.

Definitely.

Brain has the capacity to make a reasonably good player with the opportunity. Tunstill I'm not so sure , but he gives it 100% and would be getting a regular game at many clubs.

Hipwood can't come straight back into the seniors, he needs a couple of weeks in reserves. Bring him back after Geelong.

I am surprised you didn't have Froggy in the votes 3KZ, he looked delightful in the stands.
Reminiscent of years ago when Hammo was covering the Lions. Or was it Damo?

He mentioned an opposition player as one of his "best" when that guy wasn't even playing.

Just can't remember who it was but it may have been someone like C.Judd

Anyone?

It was Simon Black. Gave him votes in a game he didn’t even play in.

I think people are a being a bit unfair to Curtin. Give the boy a chance.

I remember when people were ragging on Kai when he was only getting 10 mins in a qtr & wasnt playing full games. Idiots saying dopey shit like he was a waste of a list spot & yet, look at how he performed for the last 2 gf! Bashing on a young inexperienced player is poor form.

My criticism is 0% on Cody and 100% on list management and selection committee. He’s been fine for an 18 year old but the decision to play him ahead of other options and keep Ty in defence was asinine.

There were injuries (Ty’s concussion, Joyce’s injury) that probably required him to be picked but the match committee at the start of the last 6-8 weeks made a bunch of decisions that left Ty in defence and that was stupid.

Wilmot/Neale/Morris all self-explanatory votes.

Berry was outstanding, The more I watch of us without him the more I think he's genuinely one of our most important players; his work rate and ability to drop back into defence and affect the play is exactly what we've been missing the past month.

I gave Fort my last vote, mainly because I found myself getting surprised at how much of an effect he had on the game at multiple points. Taking marks in the D50, kicking goals up forward, and doing it all in the ruck as well.

I do think Draper was a fantastic pickup for us and is playing really well, don't get me wrong... but the more I've seen of Fort play this year the more I find myself wondering if maybe he should've been our No. 1 ruck all along instead of Big O the last few years

Thought WAshcroft's kicking was much better.
Longer kicks were generally kept lower with greater penetration, and his little kicks out of congestion were tumbled forward rather than dinked into the air.

Very excited for Hipwood to come back; the photos I've seen of him he's spent the year off getting absolutely jacked.

I actually don't know how he comes into the side though - I think Gallop's pressure is much needed up forward, and Fort/Draper is working very well for us as a ruck combo.

I almost wonder if now is the time to see if Hipwood can play on the wing ala Dempsey?

Not sure how ready Joyce was , he had a bit of a setback , but the structure we had tonight was so obviously our best option with the available players.

They asked too much of Curtain unless they had no other choice.

Yes...yes.

It's come back to me

For some reason my defective memory thought it was an opponent player but it was Blacky.

Journalistic howler of the highest order and rightfully lampooned heavily on this Forum at the time.
:)

Not yet. He'd be gassed after 5 minutes after a year off.

I think it'd be good if we could afford to give him a couple of games in the VFL.

Fort took 7 marks tonight which is a lot for your second string ruckman . Also had more TOG than Drapes. It's worked well all year and you wouldn't disrupt that unless there was an obvious reason.

The other issue is that they can both kick a goal or two which is always very handy.

Any win lately is a good win, and importantly we beat a team above us on the ladder
I was pretty confident of beating the Suns today
The Suns recent form has not been all that great when you dissect their recent results

In the end it was 31 points but should have been 50 plus really.
A miracle in that it looks like we got through the game with no injuries. Fingers crossed.

Morris with 7 but could have been 10 and a worthy medal winner
Neale set the tone early and continued that form throughout the game
Wilmot keeping up his good form.
Dunkley much better. Looked like he was running with Rowell. If so, he kept Rowell to 16 disposals and getting 19 himself

In the end it was a solid team effort which was needed and important.

Next a Hobart game to play the Tigers
