They always underperform their list for a year get top draft picks then rise up again.
Not this time.

Pendlebury - 38
Howe - 35
Sidebottom - 35
Elliott - 34 (ACL)
Crisp - 32
Membrey - 32
McStay - 30
Cameron - 30
Moore - 30
DeGoey - 30

And they’ve got no young players coming through as they’ve used all their draft picks on trades like Houston who is 29.

All will be another year older next year.

Last year was their last chance. They have fallen off a cliff this year and it’s going to get worse before it gets better. How do they replace these 10 players especially with Tasmania coming in?

So you’re saying they tank?

Yeah, I’d believe that.

Remember Pendlebury was the ultimate result of an AFL awarded comp pick back in the infamous days of 5 or less wins got you a high 1st round pick. An era that no team ever finished with 6 wins.

Pies landscape would have looked remarkably different if they had come out of that draft with only Thomas (who they took before Pendlebury).

Wonder if McRae would be interested in coaching the Crows from next year.

Actually the era of 5 wins and less priority picks brings back a lot of sliding door moments.

There were 3 priority picks in 2004. Coincidently, Buddy Franklin went 3 picks before the Crows own pick where we selected John Meesan.

You can dream.

Franklin wouldn't have stayed for a 2nd contract but would have given us another pick 3 you'd think.

5 out of the top 7 picks were good gets, especially Roughead, Franklin and Lewis obviously (Deledio and Griffen very good players).

After that (starting with Meesen at 8) there was nobody of note except LeCras, Egan (who was pick 60-odd) and the F/S players. Not that there wasn't OK players but VB was probably in the upper echelon of careers.

Getting booted out of the Top 5 was rough.

We seem to be the losers in every AFL manipulation of the system. Having said that I still like F/S.

The one redemption was big Eeeevan Maric later.

On the balance, we've lost out on draft compromises more than most.

They're suggesting 3+ for premiership player Billy Frampton

Colour of jumper determines length of suspension

Oh come on, you’re not suggesting an ex-Collingwood player would give the Pies favourable treatment?

Next thing, you’ll be accusing Geelong of getting a leg up because their CEO in an ex-AFL GM of Operations……

Laughable the media initially claiming Frampton could get away with fracturing the neck of another player
Pfft come one. Didn't you see what Tex did? Incredibly dangerous. Reckless. Almost killed a guy.
Frampton is a Collingwood premiership player. He would never...

That'll be what Christian will say, but Billy still drove his head into the ground.

The whole "potential for serious injury" deal is going to get a work out
There's not even potential though is there? He was injured.

Just so we are keeping track here:

On one random week the AFL decide to clamp down on staging. Of course that week it's only a player from Brisbane and one from Adelaide that are fined. Every other week it is ignored.

The Vic media decided to make a big deal out of players throwing the ball instead of executing a proper handball. Of course every team does this every week. Hell the Dogs won their flag by doing it first (and the unbelievably biased umpiring). Weirdly, it seemed to be only Crows players being highlighted though. Entire segments of the Crows players throwing the ball. No-one else mentioned.

The Vic media immediately convicted Tex for his push. That muppet the MRO follows suit and he is suspended. Nothing is said about any other pushes this week. Not mentioned. No follow up. No reports. Is that it now, pure trial by commentator?

It's almost like it's not a coincidence that this keeps on happening to us...

Awful.

Frampton should be sent straight to the tribunal.
The outcome is definitely not good. I am not sure what else Frampton could do considering the starting position after Mihocek slipped over. Maybe try roll him, which then gives him the opportunity to get the ball out though ?? The AFL should definitely be using this to make a statement about the consequences of what can happen in a tackle with the amount of players that are deliberately going limp in tackles and aiming their head at the ground in an attempt to win a sling tackle free kick. I have seen Hawks and Port players do it a lot, among others.
