Agreed, has to be weeks. If the shoe was on the other foot and it was a Collingwood player having surgery for a fractured neck you can guarantee the narrative would be different, probably sent straight to the tribunal and 5 or 6 weeks.

I don't think he was running at him head down, he slipped/stumbled and was on his knee and pushing up off the ground. Frampton has a duty of care to execute the tackle correctly so as not to turn Mihocek with all his weight on his back/neck and driving him crown-first into the ground.

I don't think Frampton intended to injure or anything but it was a clumsy tackle resulting in serious injury, under the current rules he has to be suspended.

I'm not laying blame at Mihocek im saying however it happens doesn't matter his head is down and he's driving forward opposite direction to Frampton. Other than lay a piss weak tackle that lets him break through hes done nothing other than try and stop him

Nah mate that wasn't a thug act from back in the day that was a bloke doing his best to stop a fairly decent sized bloke breaking through his tackle. Considering the immediate look of concern on framptons face there's no way there was any malice at all

I think a lot of people’s perceptions get warped by watching the slow mo replays.

In realtime there was not a lot Frampton could have done to protect him.

It was an unfortunate accident. Mihocheck slipped.

I'm not saying he shouldn't get suspended, just unlucky the way it unfolded. It's happened before and it will happen again. Sometimes things are unavoidable in a contact sport.

Yeah, I feel like you tend to learn over the years of playing footy how someone is going to make contact with the ground when you tackle them. I don’t think Frampton would have wanted to fracture his neck in the slightest but when he made the tackle he would have instinctively known given Checkers body position that leaning back in the tackle like that was going to cause his head to make contact with the ground.
