Umpires boss Rowan Sawers just admitted on 6PR that there should NOT have been a 50 metre penalty paid to Lloyd on Saturday night. Bit late now boys
how we all chose a player that we would be barracking for to step up/get more games etc??
Mine were David Haynes (since traded) and Callum (who barely added to his 2002 tally) so I am not sure I should even choose one this year :)
However, my player for the year is...
I hope you Cats are good to him!
He was my"project player" last year on the Eagles board. I really rate him as a footballer and was very sorry to see him go. He played for my team (East Perth) and was a premiership player and very popular with the supporters.
Best of luck David.
Just listening to 6PR and a report on the Draft Camp, and Farren Ray evidently received a standing ovation at the completion of the beep test. The report says he showed "Judd-like" ability. Big wraps also for Surjan and of course Bradley.
Woosha has been voted third best coach by the players in the AFLPA survey.
All players were polled and asked to nominate a coach (other than their own) and Woosha was voted third behind Matthews and Malthouse.
A huge feather in Woosha's cap!!
On Talking Footy last night, Peter Schwab announced the awards voted by the AFL Coaches Association.
Best Player: Nathan Buckley
followed by Voss, Wanganeen, Tredrea and Lloyd
Best Young Player (who may have been in the system 2 years - Roewoldt allowed three due to injury): CHRIS...
I heard today that Ashley Hansen has been offered a one year deal at the Eagles - but has said "no thanks" and is returning to Melbourne in a couple of weeks.. No great loss in my opinion. Would be in the queue behind McDougall, Gaspar and Johnson.
Trevor Nisbett was the guest speaker at the Eagles lunch today and was as usual very interesting. One statistic he had was extremely enlightening. He said it is an important stat to work out how many games are missed by a team's top 5 players.
For example: Fremantle have only lost three games...
Dennis Cometti questioned "why it is that the majority of WA football supporters have a soft spot for AFL powerhouses like Adelaide,Brisbane,Essendon etc and not for the struggling Vic teams like the Bulldogs and Saints"??
Personally, I have a problem with the Dogs over quite a few incidents...
Late last night, there was a preview of tonight's 9 news and apparently - a "superstar of the AFL" is planning to come West and Dennis thinks the Eagles are the perfect nest". The players featured were Voss,Buckley,Richardson,Hird and a few others. I cannot imagine that any of them would be...
Terry Wallace and Wayne Schwass on Fox last night both tipped us to finish top three. Wayne tipped us to play Port Adelaide in the Grand Final. Terry picked Michael Gardiner for the Brownlow and Wayne tipped Phil for the Coleman. A very positive Victorian media report on us for a change!
And...
Can ayone tell me how ex-East Perth boy Jeff Smith is settling in at Geelong? He only played a couple of games for the Royals last season before being drafted by you. One game he played was on a wing - the tallest winger I have seen, and he was very good.
The Cats have done well out of East...
From the East Perth v Swan Districts game yesterday:
Willo : Kicked 4 goals 6 and could have been 7 - was very windy though. Took his usual strong marks and at times was competing against 2 and 3 players at a time. Should definately play Eagles next week. (Lynch has to be dropped!)
Michael...
Only one change to the team for Saturday - Ash in and Callum out. I would assume that Callum is injured because I can't see why he would be dropped.
No Willo again - he was named for East Perth last week and didn't play. Maybe this week. Lynch gets another chance - let's hope he does a lot...
This would have to be the most hilarious trade rumour of the year - no, of the decade - wait for it:
Daniel Chick to the West Coast Eagles in a straight swap for -
Chris Judd !!
Heard it on 6NR's "The Bounce" when some idiot was interviewing Kelvin Templeton.
Well the mighty Royals showed they are still the team to beat by thrashing Sooby to the tune of eight goals.
Brent Tuckey played an outstanding game and continued his great marking (after taking the Mark Of The Year) against the Garlicmunchers last week. Maybe Woosha should look to him for FF...
What a tragic end to a young life.Ben had everything going for him only to lose his life in a car accident in Perth on Friday night.Puts who wins and loses a game of football in perspective.
