I did, actually thought your post was a really good reflection on the game. Have a couple more general points to add about a few players:
Lombard was awesome, I don’t have him in top 5 but top 10 yes. I’ve made no secret of my desire to split pick 3ish and Lombard going between 3 and GCS 1st...
Did anyone watch the first game of the Championships? There was stuff all chat about it on here.
Here was my thoughts;
Allies:
8. Leo Lombard - Firmly in the top 5 now, he's got everything you want as midfielder. Quick and powerful, with good skills. He was best on for mine, was breaking...
His direct opponent had career best games in maybe 3 out of his 6 games. Williams, Marshall and Goldstein destroyed him. Essendon destroyed him too. It was largely overlooked as we won all those games.
Theres something to work with from an athletic point of view, but his football IQ was...
...on ground, career high)
Port def St Kilda 83-76
Teakle: 60
Rowan Marshall: 159 (highest on ground)
Port def Essendon 92-87
Teakle: 42
SamDraper: 110 (2nd highest on ground)
Port def North 135-65
Teakle: 67
Todd Goldstein: 171 (highest on ground)
edit: Sorry i've just realised you meant...
well, well, well... I see you're a brady apologist.
keep backing up the worst list manager in the history of the afl. keep defending the terrible contracts. the terrible trades. the shit recycled players. none of it is brady's fault.
nothing the club has done and does do is wrong. we're just...
I've seen the bloke play. He's a terrible ruckman. The fact that every single one of their fans is telling you he can't ruck and you're optimistic only proves you're blindly supporting the club.
The same club in its current state that is the worst in AFL history, our sustained period of being...
...hitouts and got 6 coaches votes.
Round 8, 2023 vs Essendon. He had 2 kicks, 5 handballs, 3 marks and 14 hitouts. His direct opponent was SamDraper who had 11 kicks, 5 handballs, 2 marks and 24 hitouts and got 3 coaches votes.
Round 9, 2023 vs North Melbourne. He had 8 kicks, 4 handballs, 0...
If he is getting any games in the seniors it is not going to be as the #1 ruck, as clearly he is not up to it at AFL level. He would only be playing as a 2nd tall forward/relief ruck, if at all. Worst case scenario is that he takes up a list spot playing in the 2's for a year and a half.
...- 6 votes - 926/28) - Brownlow vote
Round 21 2022 - RM - Toby Nankervis - 6 votes - (29/44) - 3 Brownlow votes
Round 8 2023 - ESS - SamDraper - 3 votes - (16/24)
A few observations. He was in his first handful of games going up against guys with more, sometimes vastly more, experience at...
I think we'll be looking at more as a forward and few ruck minutes per quarter.
Again only from highlights, but his kicking action looks solid, good marking power and looks to move pretty well for a big unit.
...for the opposition.
And for the most part these were not superstars of the game. Among those games were games against Bailey Williams, SamDraper, and the long past his best 2023 model Todd Goldstein.
In 27 years of following Port Adelaide, I've literally never once seen any other player...
...that has enough height and pressure that would significantly raise their ceiling.
If they do win how did it happen?
Defense holds up.
Dual Rucks aka SamDraper plays Full Forward well enough for the other forwards to slot into their natural roles.

“If Bevo’s still there, there’ll be some players requesting trades,” he said before declaring Smith, who is off contract at the end of the season and recovering from an ACL injury, would leave.
SamDraper statement.
So Benny & Rome didn't make the cut. Shame.
Edit, can see Rome had a poor game for the U18 Eagles. Wonder if he's been out with injury lately, or was injured during the game. Hasn't been playing much lately, neither has Benny Barrett who doesn't appear to have played on the weekend.
