Yeh I assume it's just based on ranking. Looks like the 2nd ranked players play eachother first then 1st ranked players ie. both times Kyrgios (ranked 24ish) played first, then De Minaur (ranked 20ish)

You could do it how Wimbledon does it and alternate the second week (men one day, women the next). Tbh I don't think it's that bad- you can't play the semi on Friday because then the break is unfair. So what are your other options?
