Crikey, you may be onto something here…..hmm, let me see so if there is less time to play the game then the games are closer? Could it have some thing to do with less time to score means less scores. Why, if we had 5minute halves then it would be closer still!!
interesting on the hyper-analysis: there is far too much analysis of peripheral things (culture etc) but far too little on the football and tactical side of things....which begs the question: which came first - the focus on the periphery led to the creation of the Morris/Browne substanceless...
Refresh doesn't work. Look at how many have voted - barely more than 2000, so the result is hardly surprising.
Same issue with the mark of week - 1500 votes.
Canberra a capital idea for Swans

SYDNEY hopes to fill a potential AFL void in Canberra by playing some nominal away games at Manuka Oval next season if the Kangaroos choose not to renew their three-games-a-year deal in favour of a more lucrative offer to play...
Currently, the AFL starts working on the draw for the following year based on team positions at round 15 - I have assumed that this was so that they could get a headstart on managing the fixture and booking grounds etc.. I don't think they have the luxury of being able to wait until after the...
Just some numbers for people:
MCC full membership: 56,500
MCC Restricted membership: 35,500
Total: 92,000 - which is made up of supporters of all clubs (including WC and the Swans)
(waiting list 158,000)
Cost of Southern Stand: $150 m
Cost of Current Redevelopment: $430 m

I also would be disappointed if the restrictions were lifted. The AFL are obviously trying to get the most out of the next negotiations - if 7/10 know that 9/? aren't really in the running (because of continued restrictions on pay tv), then their offer will be a lot lower.
From memory, the draw for 2006 is based on team positions at the end of round 15 - ie: how many top 8 sides you play etc. Of course there are the unevens - like needing to have blockbusters and inner-state rivalries, and Collingwood not having to travel..... - but putting them aside, the system...
The 2 games following Jack Dyer's death. The first was a couple of days after Captain Blood passed away...followed by the 'tribute' game the following week...just so spineless and insipid...
It's funny, I thought a career coach is one who wanted to have a career coaching. To me, it's better to try and coach at the one club (like a Sheedy) than hope for short-term success and then get picked up on the rebound by another club, particularly in a market where there are only 16...
Unless I missed something, the $4.27 was a redirection, not a debt. This year we needed to get some early money from the AFL to cover poor cash flow in the early rounds of the year (before we got any home gate revenue).
In respect of the AFL assistance, while we do have a larger supporter...
I'll see you, and raise you....
No decision on Sheedy

Kevin Sheedy’s tenure as coach of Essendon remains uncertain, with no contract extension offered to Sheedy after Thursday night’s board meeting at Windy Hill.

We had a pretty ordinary local RU comp over here too....didn't stop the Brumbies drawing the crowds.
Also, the ARU provides most of the $ for the S12, so you could guarantee that they would throw a lot at WA. They also have some say in where players go - as per the inability of NSW to grab...
Can we get some indication of who 'Ruth' supports - it may allow some perspective to come into the argument.
At the moment she/he can shout/spout on about other teams without any fear of a reply against her team.
Until then, her/his comments aren't worth replying to.
To use your analogy, if you asked people about paying tax, a large majority would say they are happy to do so, as long as everyone is treated the same, with some concessions for the more needy. I will happily support someone in need of help.
However, most people will object to having to pay...
Yes, I am happy to provide some support to those in need. But not to the extent that it unfairly places them in a better position than others.
To use your analogy, how do you think the middle income earners (Hawthorn, Geelong, Richmond, North) feel - they can't get ahead because they don't...
I thought Mead was saying that tryers don't get the benefits of good (ie: priority) picks.
I didn't want to get into this argument because my initial thread was about 'swinging teams' (ie: ones that fluctuate between finals campaigns and priority picks), but I think the argument for...
Can anyone justify the current priority pick system?
I know the season's still got a long way to go, but at this time last year, only 1 team from the top 8 didn't make the finals - so the ladder should be a pretty fair indicator of how the season will finish.
Looking at the current...
for me, in terms of unbreakable tackles, I remember one that Andy Krak made last year...
He was running full tilt around a small pack when an opposition player grabbed the ball, he was running the opposite direction to where the player was going (ie: face to face) and threw out a...
I may be wrong, but wasn't the Sydney game one that Coll pushed for? Not unlike Melb travelling to Bris, or North to Canberra? which you conveniently excluded from your comparison.
I think it's a common phrase and not meant to be taken literally - like '110%'
I could be interpreted as something like:
'Sydney played to their absolute best, he doesn't expect them to maintain that'
OR
'Sydney got under the guard of some teams, it won't happen next year'
OR
'Sydney...
I wouldn't mind seeing that, but Sheedy always has a way of having a good year when his contract's up for renewal...If he renews before the season starts, then you may have a better chance.
