Chad Warner
When the Sydney Swans swept up Chad Warner with pick 39 at the 2019 AFL Draft, they secured a youngster with an insatiable appetite for the contest. Warner attacks the ball and opponents with aggression and is relishing calling midfield bulls Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker his teammates at the Swans. Warner impressed for Western Australia in the 2019 AFL Under-18 Championships, averaging 18.2 touches (50 per cent contested), 3.2 clearances and 6.8 tackles per game. He also tallied an average of 27.1 disposals, 6.4 clearances and 7.4 tackles per match at Colts level for East Fremantle in 2019. He earned his AFL debut against Richmond in Round 6 of the 2020 season, recording eight disposals and two tackles.

Chad Warner's property in W.A is up for rent and been updated

An old copy of the listing used to say "Please note the tenancy is scheduled to continue until October 2025, with the potential for negotiation subject to the owner's circumstances."

That has now been removed from the advertisement.

I think he actually might be staying.

(Yes I went down a rabbit hole on this after someone posted something about this on the draft and trade board).

You look at the Chad then you look at Alice and you ponder

"How"

Athletes

Generally our partners are more attractive than us.

Unless your Issac Heeney, it becomes mutual.

Have you seen her
You and i have been the 2 consistent ones on he's staying

I would never say I have been confident in him staying until now, more I was looking for reasons he would stay or go (just being logical).

You on the other hand appear to have called it quite some time ago :)

Looks like Bonz just flipped the lid on the whole Chad situation.

I think Chad goes past Heeney this season.

Just looking back at a draft profile and areas needing improvement were listed as speed and kick penetration. Strengths included defensive pressure, clearances and accumulation.

Is it possible that with the spectacular results of improved speed and kick penetration, that Horse was content just to capitalise on those new found strengths without demanding maintenance of his bread and butter stuff?

Chad's numbers are impossible to criticise in the key areas and his influence on games was clear for everyone to see, but after increasing his numbers, across the board, each year after coming in, he went backwards last year.

Disposals down, tackles down, clearances down, CP/UP ratio down... not by massive amounts but it just doesn't add up for a 24yo, still growing into his man-body, who to this point has shown steady progression, to be going backwards without it being as a consequence of the role he is asked to play, or a lack of critical analysis.

If Coxy is applying the same rules across the board with regard to boosting our contest and pressure, then surely Chad is the guy to capitalise.

I would like to think that Chad could go past Heeney.
But Heeney is cat like in aerial pursuits. Chad is not. Heeney can pull off freakish marks high, low and at stupid angles or reaches. Chad cannot.
Heeney's freakishness, Chad does not have freakishness, allows him to grab balls, call them marks, but they are much better than marks. They are freakish marks. Chad cannot.
Around goals Heeney is again cat like. I hate cats. But I admire their ability to twist their bodies instantly to eanable them to do freakish feats. Chad cannot.

Heeney and Chad can do lots of things, both of them, that break games apart.

Individually they are superstars.

Chad will never, ever do the freakish Heeney, cat like twists and turns in an instant that enable him to do seemingly impossible things.

Chad is different to Heeney. Chad is a burst player. A player of immense power. A game changing player like Heeney, but not a Heeney.

Chad cannot go past Heeney in this season or next because they are in different lanes on the sporting field.

Chads going to become the best player in the comp is what I am hearing

I too hate cats but I admire both Heeney and the Chad. I can imagine either of them grabbing them by the balls as they twist their bodies into freakish shapes desperately trying to get free.

I bet Chad could twist his body instantly into freakish feats if he were grabbed like a cat

Player managers

I appreciate your fondness for Heeney, and also your desire for him to be recognised for his freakish attributes but I gotta say I'm a little confused by your angle here.

I posted a reasoned opinion about Chad taking his game to a new level under a different coach, continuing the upward trajectory seen in previous seasons, and potentially becoming our best player.

It's no skin off my nose if he doesn't. I'm hopeful, and would merely like it to happen with a view to making our team better.

You offer nothing to discredit my opinion but instead position your guy as being in some sort of protected cocoon because "they are in different lanes on the sporting field". Yes Isaac is unique, but this is not the Australian Feline League... he is a footballer and footballers get compared to other footballers regardless of how strong they are in particular facets of the game.

Chad can go past Isaac. It might not happen this year. It might not happen ever. But people will always compare one player with another. They certainly won't stop because you feel uniqueness offers some sort of sanctuary.

I thought he was just saying player managers hype the player as a separate point. I certainly think the Chad going past Heeney is well considered, he has plenty of time, I just think that would make him the best or close to best in the Comp (also possible)

It was your opening line bait that got me hooked.

You said "I think Chad goes past Heeney this season."

I don't discredit your opinion in the rest of your post because I agree with you. Just not the comparison.
I think also that Chad can improve. He is a beast of a player. He breaks tackles like no one else. He has a competitive streak like no other player in our team. He is relentless in his attack on the opposition. He is a super player. A destructive player. An impactful player. A clutch player that scores impossible goals.

Two different players IMO. That's all.

Opening line bait? WTF?

Not at any stage did I actually "compare" the players. I used Heeney's level of greatness as a measuring stick for where Chad might be if certain things happen.

You had no interest in discussion initially, only to belittle my post with the glorification of Heeney's cat-like attributes and pointing out all the things that Chad can't/won't do.

You could quite easily have addressed the "different players" argument but chose alternative path.

Even added a snarky bit of sarcasm implying the post was so ridiculous I must have some kind of player manager-like interest in pushing his barrow.

You can justify it however you want, I'm not in the slightest bit interested but thanks anyway.
