Jesse Hogan makes his way to the Demons after Melbourne committed to snaring him through the minidraft pick, acquired through trading picks 3 and 13 to GWS. The manchild of a key forward has had a great season throughout the under-18 championships as a bottom-age player and in the draft combine, and outside of minidraft eligibility was rated as a top ten selection for the 2013 AFL Draft. Hogan recorded a 10:20 time in the 3 km trial (equal tenth), 14.2 in the beep test (equal ninth), as well as good results across the other tests, including a 3.02 in the 20 metre sprint, whilst having one of the largest weights and hand spans as recorded. Playing for WA in the national championships, he averaged 13.6 disposals, 6.4 marks and 1.2 goals per game, and for the WA Colts also averaged 19.8 disposals, 7.8 marks and 2.2 goals per game for Claremont.

Welcome to the Demons, Jesse! :thumbsu:

So is he going to move over to the Dees next year and train with/play in the VFL or does he stay in WA and play 1s?

Don't know about Crouch but I recall O'Meara running around this year.

Yeah I saw O'Meara run around against the Cats and he was good. If we can't play Clark for whatever reason with his foot injury there's no reason to suggest that we give Hogan a run; as well as that Mark Neeld is looking to predominantly play Clark more up the field this season so it would be a good chance to see what Dawes/Hogan can do staying at home.

MFC: Pre-season update: Hogan to Dawes

1. Jesse Hogan (will officially join Melbourne’s list in 2014)
There is no rush with Jesse. He’s got another 12 months to wait, but we’ve been slowly introducing him to the program. Jesse has enjoyed the competitive off legs sessions with the boys. We’re looking forward to watching Jesse compete and it’s good for him to live and learn from Mitch Clark. And now that Chris Dawes is at the club, you can see the three of them striking up a strong relationship. Jesse has built nicely into the pre-Christmas period, so we’re looking forward to watching him grow next year.

Good to hear that the Hulk's been given permission to play in the NAB Cup.
From the afl website on an article about Martin from Gold Coast being given permission

Melbourne has not asked permission for its mini-draft selection, key position prospect Jesse Hogan, to play in the NAB Cup.

I didn't say that, did I?

All up to whether Melbourne want him to (and bar fitness, why not?).

MFC: Hogan set for more NAB Cup matches

OUTSTANDING young key forward Jesse Hogan is likely to play each match of the NAB Cup to give him as much exposure as possible before he officially becomes a listed player in 2014.

Coach Mark Neeld said Hogan, who impressed in Melbourne’s opening NAB Cup losses against North Melbourne and Richmond respectively, will gain plenty of experience from this pre-season series.

To be expected but nice to have it confirmed.

MFC: Hogan rests after big pre-season
EXCITING young key forward Jesse Hogan will be given a breather this weekend after playing in Melbourne’s five pre-season matches this year.

Hogan played against North Melbourne, Richmond, Port Adelaide and St Kilda in the NAB Cup and in last week’s practice match against Gold Coast Suns.

But elite performance manager Dave Misson confirmed Hogan would return to his native Western Australia as part of his program. Hogan will not be eligible to play for Melbourne again until next year’s NAB Cup, when he is officially on the club’s list in 2014.

“He’s played every game and he’s played pretty big minutes,” Misson told melbournefc.com.au.

“It was always part of his plan to send him home to Perth. He’s on a recovery week back there and he’ll be back here for next week.

“But we’re rapt with the way Jesse has played in the pre-season.”
Deserves a breather, too. :thumbsu:
