Player Watch #13 Hugo Ralphsmith - MCL Injury 5-7 Weeks

Struggled to impact for most of the game but was important in the 3rd when we got the game on our terms. Seems to be the McIntosh defensive wing role for him which limits his disposal numbers

Disappeared. Not a bad first Q but after that where'd he go. Might get a weeks grace because you generally don't drop players after rd.1, but would want to quick reversal.

I noticed him, so that's good. Didn't play really badly. Didn't play well. meh

Given how we played the game I reckon someone like Sonsie with better skills would have been a better pick last night.

Having said that cutting off his hair seems to have taken he dare out of his game, which was his strong point previously.

Probably worth persisting with and see if he can add something to his game. But yeah, meh.

Played the 4th most game time for Tigers behind Lynch, Miller and Balta on Thursday.
For 11 touches…

He’ll be 25 this year and is at 63 games now.

The blowtorch needs to be absolutely applied to this kid and he’s either going to shine or wither away.

I think you’ve got to play him, you have to see what you’ve got before you can him.

But as a wingman, he either needs to affect the game getting back defensively and having important moments defensively or get forward and become a score involvement beast and hit the scoreboard.

We need a lot more then 11 touches in 86% game time.

Actually I want to see Sonsie given a go. Because his skills were very obviously not there Thursday. We really need to hit targets, and he can do that. if he does work hard and do the grunt work as well we have a winner.

Hugo can run, yep. But he isn't a game breaker or hard at it. He's Ok, but I'd like an upgrade.

Hugo isnt good enough, but surely he was better than McAuliffe last week who has used the ball terribly at AFL level.

Also Sonsie doing the grunt work??

Right now no one has been good enough to lock down a wing spot, so they should all get plenty of chances this season. Hopefully atleast one of the spots is clear by the end of this year going forward.

Hugo would want a good game this week because he is breathing right down his neck.

Match committee by dropping Gibcus have shown that there are no givens with the hope of running into form, which is a good thing but maybe not for Hugo.

Last year if you watched stoppages, and looked at the outside you'd see Sonsie and Ross doing the wrestling and blocking for our mids. He did the unrewarded hard grunt work for our structure around contests. He also did a lot of outside running - not as good as KMac1 at that.

I would guess that the club wants more running power so Sonsie is back in the field.
