He's had one good season with us in three. Always thought of him as a poor-man's Matt Leuenberger. Drafted the same year, and despite Leuenberger's serious injuries, Hampson has still played significantly less games and his stats run at about 66-75% of Matty's. Matty Leuenberger was an unrestricted free agent and was probably lucky he fell to Essendon. Brisbane took Pick39 as compensation rather than try and bid to keep him. Say no more.

In his good 2016, we was manful, carried injury and even went from a one-trick tap pony to rounding his gamrecorde into other facets and values. Even his most ardent 'dog whistler' praised his improvement through the year. His admirers hung their hat on his apparent tap to advantage record. His best recent year was Richmond's worst recent year.

We can afford to carry a very good big man, not a very mediocre one.

I reckon dimwit knew he couldnt develop tobes so he said look lets take 1 for the team and get a dud. Let sydney develop the 1 we really want and then pounce later and ask meagan to give shaun much.more attention so he does his back and everyones a winner....

Inconvenient truth Phar Ace.
You don't give up good second round picks for a guy who has one average season among three and does nothing outside the tap outs.
People lauding Nankervis - and there are plenty of them - only need ask the question could you see Hammer doing what he does and the answer is an emphatic no.
The game when it acme to ruckmen changed six years ago ..... even Carlton saw that and didn't play him and offloaded him ... we failed to see it.
No one is happy to see him injured and the same suspects suggesting that are just looking for a cop-out.
Fact is he would be a Twos ruckman if fit.

He's on the long term injury list and listed as indefinite. Don't expect him to play this year.

That's not quite right. When he was placed on the long term injury list it was suggested he would not play in the early part of the season.

They said his back injury didn't require surgery.

So can someone please explain why he is still no where to be seen?

Was it incompetence from the club and he did require surgery? Or is something else going on?

I think he was worth it. Imagine if we didn't have him on the list last year. We literally wouldn't have had a capable ruckman. Cunningham is no superstar either.

Also, people are quick to forget the significant personal trauma he's suffered in the last 12 months.

He was at Ivan's retirement speech so he has been sighted.

We're all well aware of his limitations as a footballer, but we would be a massive upgrade on Soldo playing exactly the same role. Should come in as soon as he is capable of running out 4 quarters.

Hampson number 1 ruck, Nank out of the Goalsquare. Hammer fixes 2 spots. Is a better ruckman than Nank, and Nank is a better forward than Hammer.

And Hammer is better at both than Soldo.
