Is evidently too cool to have a profile on the Roos website :D

Brad Moran

Number: 18
Age: 20
Height: 200cm
Weight: 104kg
Recruited From: Southport/England
Career Games: 2
Career Goals: 0

About: Tall and versatile enough to play in a key position as well as ruck, he put himself on the map with a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination in his debut match in round 21 and played the last two games of the season. Wears Wayne Carey's famous No. 18 jumper and is keen, and has the confidence, to make it his own.

In an interesting sidenote, Moran's grandfather played for Aston Villa in the EPL, and it is reported that Villa made a huge play for the younger Moran in last years trade period believing he had the potential to be a devastating Centre-Forward. However, the Roos quickly rejected Villa's offer of Milan Baros & the humorously named Eric Djemba-Djemba in favour of seeing Moran fulfill his potential as a Kangaroo.

Player honours: NAB AFL Rising Star nominee 2006.
Draft history: 2004 NAB AFL Draft 4th round selection No. 58 overall.

AFL Website 2007 Kangaroos Preview

Brad Moran - Took centre stage in round 21 last year, the promising key position player collecting 21 disposals, 10 marks and 10 hitouts. The Roos drafted Moran on 'potential' two years ago and look set to reap the rewards as the man wearing the famous number 18 guernsey heads into this season with more experience and confidence.

Moran was named to play against Collingwood in round 1, but was a late tactical withdrawl as he was replaced by Shannon Watt. He was spotted after the game alongside Aaron Edwards looking fit and handsome, but rather pissed off at what can only be described as a 'pissed off worthy' loss for North Melbourne.

Moran missed out on selection for North's round 2 match against Port Adelaide, and instead played for Tassie in round 1 VFL action against Bendigo on Saturday the 7th of April. 75779699_06070809 gives a first hand report of his performance;

Brad Moran. Not outstanding but a good solid game at the level i would expect from him after seing him at AFL level last year. A magnificent runner but needs to learn where to run to. When he does. Watch out. Also attempted to take several pack marks. Got very close to a couple. As this is a very difficult skill good to see that Moran is having a crack given his few years in the game.

BW would very much like to see him play against Hawthorn in round 3, as he enjoyed much success against the same club in his debut last year. As well as that, being pitted against featherweights Robert Campbell & Simon Taylor would also be an ideal re-introduction to senior football for him.

But another game for Tassie would appear more likely at this stage.

Article on the back page of the (hardcopy) Mercury newspaper today about B-Rad. Looking to spend time up forward with the Devils this year (if not playing AFL).

MOOOOORRRRAAAANNN UPDATE

Since the last update, young Bradley has been biding his time in the VFL for Tassie, playing the last 3 games. Mass hysteria has surrounded his exclusion from the side, particularly seeing Hale is out injured, but none the less, the more games he plays at any level the better he can become given his inexperience in the game.

In his 3 games he was once named in the best, and has been listed as an emergency for North Melbourne on two occasions, but hasn't been listed this week, with boom rookie elevation Scott 'But call me Narelle' McMahon seemingly overtaking Moran as a potential AFL dynamo.

If Moran can have a strong game for Tassie this week, he may just be in contention for a long overdue promotion against Essendon at the Dome next Friday night. How good would Moran vs. Ryder be in the ruck, seriously.

I've been disappointed in Dean for not playing Moran. Is a huge talent, but he just doesn't want to play him. But I suppose Hamish is reaping the rewards of being the sole ruckman.

Didn't see the Tassie game, but from the reports on the other board, doesn't sound as though he is really pressing for selection on form. That's pretty disappointing to hear, and with the firsts playing so strongly, not doing himself any favours.

I can't figure it out. Zondor & I were told we had egg on our faces because we questioned whether Moran was AFL standard. Now I'm really confused.

The thing with Moran, and it might just be my impression, is that he has never dominated at VFL level. I thought last year he was progressing very well, but fairly slowly none the less (understandable for obvious reasons), and that he was still quite a bit away from being promoted and making an impact at AFL level. He was then promoted in round 21 which was somewhat of a shock (a pleasant one) and then he performed at a comparitive level that exceeded his VFL form.

Maybe he's the sought of player who is never going to dominate at VFL level, but put him in the AFL and he'll retain his level or step up.

Agreed. Should be in our side based on our needs (another ruckman), even if he isn't 'cutting it up' in the 2's.

Was just about to ask what happened with him. Have him on the bench in my dream team, and was wondering whether to perservere with him there, or cut my losses and trade for someone else. Anyone think he'll crack it for a spot in the senior side anytime soon?

What's happened to him? He showed a lot of talent last year in his first match. Won a rising star nomination. Played pre-season matches early this year? Now he's not getting selected. What's going on?

Don't be decieved, Moran is developing very nicely.

Has been named in the Tassie bests 8 times this season and has played all over the field; ruck, back, forward.

Nothing wrong with such an underdeveloped player developing in the 2's, even though it would have been ideal to have played a few games for North so far. Just can't get a look into a studded up senior side.

Mixed reviews for Moran's first game of the season. All things considered (first game of season, 3rd career game, playing defence, fastness of match/quality of opponent), I thought he was adequate. No glaring errors which is a fact which shouldn't be underestimated.

Came on late in quarter 1 and went to Embley, eventually moved around onto different opponents, playing mostly on Staker. Wasn't in the play much, but neither was Staker. Had no offensive impact, and didn't really look like he wanted to make the play - but to his credit got into it a bit more in the final quarter.

Looked a bit sluggish and awkward - but his what I'd consider key performance indicators, being number of errors, keeping his opponent down & offensive impact, were ok all things considered. Hope he gets another chance.

5/10

Good review. I'd guarantee an even better performance this week if given another game, which of course he should be. Solid start B-Rad :thumbsu:
