The 2022 vs 2023 draft is going to be an interesting battle in a few years.

Sheez, GW, George, Harvey

vs

McKercher, Duursma, Dawson, Goad & Hardeman.

Dawson and Goad loom as the big tie breakers.

We've absolutely smashed the last two drafts imo and on all viewings in AFL environments.
Now to draft a couple of looming KPFs…

He looked superb yesterday. Locks down and then intercepts one on one. Eight marks and flogged his undersized opponent

The commentators were fawning over him, just stopping short of saying “this bloke should be in the ones NOW”. They were extremely impressed with this bloke’s potential.

The back six stands strong

"Our defenders were awesome. They all played their role and were outstanding - (Charlie) Comben, Biggie (Nyuon), 'Daws' (Wil Dawson)," Lynch said.

"That was Daws' best performance since being drafted so it was great to see him improve.

"Also Riley Hardeman, Brayden George, Jackson Archer were fantastic with their run off half-back. They all defended really well and they certainly kept us in it."

Generally when a teams reserves side is good, 2 years later you see the senior team dramatically improve… as these players mature and get more games against men into them. Hope we see the improvement at senior level next year, as our reserves have been looking quite good last year and now this season

Our only hope for this season is if 1/3 rd of our senior players are playing vfl atm. Would love to see Comben, Logue & W.Dawson playing seniors together in the second half of the year. At least they have the height and/or size to compete.
This crossed my mind watching the Carlton game.

And if were to come to pass, would it be worthwhile K Dawson or Corr playing on a smaller opponent instead of McDonald?

That back six seems infinitely more capable in actually defending than the one we are fielding in the 1s at present.

So 6 changes this week, Tom? ;)

Yep. Also Duursma and Colby straight in, but the backline has to wait and prove itself in the 2’s?

I agree with Duursma and Colby being in, by the way. Just an example. I just think that if we go with youth straight away elsewhere, let’s put our young defence in too so that this whole team can learn to play together.

At the very least, one extra big body would make it interesting back there. Even if it’s Greenwood - those who say “but Clarko won’t because he knows what he gets with Greenwood and it’s about the future”.

Oh Righto, cool, so let’s allow Corr to lead the way.. because we’ve got no idea how that ends up every time 🙄

Before the Carlton game even started, it wasn’t “if” the gorillas would get off the chain, but “when” and by how much. I cannot cop just giving up games because we know we’re deficient in an area and trying SFA to change it.

DO something!
