18th birthday

so turning 18 next month and have no idea what to get for a present.
parents have started asking me about it cos they want it to be significant for me.
so have ruled out a car because i dont get my p's for at least 6 months so it would be a present i couldnt really use for half a year.
so i was wondering what maybe some of you got for your 18th or ideas about what to get.

Honestly can't remember, it was 8 years ago though so that is expected.

I know you've already highlighted it, but what is actually wrong with getting a car? Okay, granted, you can't get your P's for a few months, but in the scheme of things I don't see that as a big deal. Plus, its not the kind of thing you would usually get for a 19th birthday. Each to their own though.

I got an all expenses paid trip to Melbourne to watch the BDO for what its worth.

Lets say hypothetically you lived like, 5 minutes away from the border between USA and Canada, and you went into Canada to get blind drunk and stumbled home and got stopped by the Cops in the USA.

Do you get busted for being drunk even though you didnt drink any alcohol in that country?

thats true but it would be a handier present to have rather than booze or cash which will be drunk or spent in 6 months and having wheels is always handy (despite public transport being theoretically cheaper if I could I would drive all the time).
so i would go a car, or an investment account like a term deposit locked in for 5 years.
then after those years are up you have a handy nest egg.
