i must admit the umpiring went our way in the last quater but if every1 saw the whole match they would of seen the first 3 quaters which showed the umpires very one sided simply because fitzroy played better footy and were commited to the ball more than we were but in the last quater things changed the play went our way

The goal given at the start of the third quarter definitely went on the scoreboard. I remember looking up a the scoreboard and thinking the player that gave that free kick away has just given his team mates a kick in the guts. I thought BT were gone and buried then judging by the body language of their players.

I have never seen anything like this happen before and just wonder whether it is an Australian record comeback.

Alot of players from both sides impressed me but No. 28 for BT got cleaned up a number of times but he kept getting up and that is something special.

Fantastic win by Bulleen- an amazing comeback.
I do not wish to take anything away from BT, however seriously suggest that the Amateurs need to have a serious look at their finals eligibility rules, and would be amazed if Fitzroy, Old Xavs and Aquinas should be first proposing this.

I am in no way suggesting BT cheated.. they did everything within the rules. However think it is ridiculous that the rules allowed Tom Waters to play u19 finals. He played 5 games as the senior ruckman. Fair enough.Right on the limit. However he played the rest of the season in the VFL!!.The eligibility rules take no notice of this. Amazing

Again well done BT you deserved to win , and should be proud. You probably woudl have won it without Waters as you showed amazing resilience, however the rules need to be changed.

I am fairly certain that the executive of the VAFA will be seeking to change the interpretation of the rule.

Fitzroy players/supporters may have woken up to another slap in the face this morning as they read p. 81 of the herald sun.

The reds played terrifically for 3 quarters of football, unfortunately for them they took the foot right off the pedal. Both teams have enormous respect for each other and this was shown by fitzroy players after the game who congratualted BT on the game and the possible win even before the scores were announced. I am sure that any allegations of cheating or officials stuffing up are not coming from Fitzroy Reds players who were gracious in defeat, rather the bitter Xavs fans.

not sure whether or not I agree with the rule re VFL players BUT BT will always encourage its young players to heap of the a higher level and I am not sure that can be said about all clubs..... in our area! This has sometime hurt us (we sent a very good player to Port melbourne a few years ago and lost him - after Port sent him on to a club in the WFL). You can only hope that the club that recieves these kids will do the right thing with by them and by the club from wence they came.

AA17, this topic has been done to death on this thread previously. Lets move on.

UGLY- Totally agree.Think you do need to encourage good young players to try higher levels. Fitzroy have done it. You have done it. Old Carey have done it.
Fantastic with players like Ryan Bain, Cam Howat drafted. BUT think these players .. note there was one in each side.. should not be able to come back to U19 ,and displace players who have done the work ,if they have not played an U19 game all year. I have no problem with them playing seniors, this should be encouraged of course. I know you are talking about Kain Burridge- good to see he is back, and a younger brother in U19?? Am guessing you wont be encouraging anyone to go PT Melbourne way in a hurry? Maybe it is worthwhile forming a relationship with a more local VFL club like Box Hill,Coburg or Preston where you agree to send the best youngsters to their pre-season, as long as you are their listed VAFA club. you can only gain by this in the long run as you will pick up more and more high level juniors as the word gets around, and more will return to BT. Smudger.. i am not from this thread and only noticed when i saw him running around on Sunday, so you will have to excuse me on commenting on something for the first time.

Not having a dig AA17, just that after the 1st semi, old xavs ppl got on here and complained, then after the prelim, the old xavs complained again, not aquinas...just waiting for them to ark up again. was trying to stop them from taking ur comment and running with it....again.

No worries Smudger-understand-read back after you mentioned it and there was a lot of crap , and have no wish to attempt to undermine one of the most amazing victories ever seen anywhere.

not meaning to go back into old news, but i aggree with everyone that the elegibility rule is flawed. However, bulleen playing that blonde ruckman was within the rules so no-one can have a problem with it. any of the 4 teams in the finals would have brought him in if they could have, so its just good luck for bulleen that they had the opportunity to.

without meaning to tread on any toes, how did fitzroy lose on saturday? fantastic effort by bulleen, amazing to come back from so far down. but what i dont understand is how did fitzroy lose? i dont care how tired they were, or if they were all cramping or how good bulleens midfield and forwards are playing or how loud the bulleen crowd is. how do you lose from 66 points up in a grand final? absolute disgrace. ive witnessed bulleen turn it on like this twice against the old xavs on different occasions and the momentum they build up is extroadinairy. however a grand final is different and seeing as fitzroy are a very good team themselves its a joke that they lost. they should hang their heads in shame!

Exceptional game on sunday. Lived up to its expectations. Thought the blonde ruckmen (i assume waters) was fantastic. Was also very impressed by Bullants Numbers 22,3 and 28. Any BT insiders want to explain who these fellas where.
Fantastic season of 19s football. And as an outsider was happy to hear in the Sun that the Bullants got up. A fair result for perhaps the greatest game of football in not only VAFA but maybe the great game of. footys history.

22: Rowan Matz
3: Mark Coulston
28: David Voglis

All guns and all still eligible for under 19's next year.

Ugly,

Do you think Nathan Batsanis or any other Bullants will be drafted?

Also, how many clubs are speaking with Mark Coulston - is Essendon his preferred choice?

yeh his preferred choice is Essendon and it looks they will land him...Well done MARK and all the best for 07 under the great KEVIN SHEEDY

This may not be the case as i have heard Collingwood/Williamstown are interested and have likened his playing style and ability to Dale Thomas. An avid Collingwood supporter Mark may look to the club which is closest to his heart. In either such case he would be an asset to any AFL club should they draft him. I had the priviledge of viewing his performance on Sunday and it was a fantastic game by the captain, however it was seen by those in the Bulleen-Templestowe Football Club as being average, such is the boy's consistency.

Having a look on the drafts and trading section of this site, it seems that Batsanis is 50/50 to be drafted. Probably a bit unlucky considering he has been in the bests most weeks and made the TAC Cup team of the year.

Henry - Who will be drafted higher? D Voglis or P Voglis? Will they both try and get to the Blues?

I bet there must be talent scouts/recruiting managers out there kicking themselves right now that they didn't get down to some of Coulston's games.

R U guys taking the ****. 3 players, Voglis x 2, Coulston all likely to get drafted to AFL, plus a ruckman who plays VFL all playing in a Reds Unders. How were you guys ever 8 goals behind in the first place?
Or are yuo guys that players being mentioned and your just playing funny buggers?

I think you may be on the money Moss. Never can tell thou...

I think Batsanis will get picked up - played all his juniors with BT and 1 game in seniors this year when they ad a week off - was brilliant for a young kid.
