Modern aviation has come a long way. Especially in the field of navigation. Today’s navigation standards would almost definitely have saved this disaster from occurring.

In 1938, an aircraft travelling from Adelaide to Essendon Airport become disorientated in fog and crashed. Australian National Airways Douglas DC2 monoplane Kyeema was the aircraft involved and all onboard were tragically killed.

Any locals have stories from family who witnessed or assisted with the aftermath perhaps about this tragedy?

I remember I was living in Olinda at the time. I was napping in my armchair and the crash woke me up. I ran outside so quickly that I forgot to tie my onion to my belt (which was the style at the time)
