This is the 1997-98 Bulls team, the last of the championship side to come from Chi town.

If you were to model a side of current players based on these player Bulls, who would you pick?

Players are:

Jud Buchler Bruce Bowen (Jud < Bowen in D however)
Jason Caffey Is Weatherspoon still around? If not Malik Rose
Toni Kukoc Hedo Turkoglu/Donyell Marshall
Bill Wennington Joel Pryzbillia/Matt Bonner
Rob "The Chief" Parish Chris Kaman?
Dickey Simpkins Mikki Moore
Steve Kerr JJ Reddick
Randy Brown ???
------------------------
Luc Longley ]Miller
Denis Rodman Ben Wallace
You know who No one...ever
Scottie Pippen Marion
Ron Harper ???

Its hard to find defensive minded players these days :(

Ok Pete I will give it a go:

Jud Buchler: Brent Barry
Jason Caffey:
Toni Kukoc: Peja Stojakovic
Bill Wennington: Joe Smith
Rob "The Chief" Parish:
Dickey Simpkins:
Steve Kerr: Luke Ridnour
Randy Brown: Earl Boykins

Luc Longley: Zydrunas Ilgauskas
Denis Rodman: Marcus Camby (like Rodman, he is left of centre)
Scottie Pippen: Rashard Lewis (just to have a different name, I like the Shaun Marion fit)
Michael Jordan: LaBron James (Kobe, Wade or Mello would fit)
Ron Harper: Aaron Mckie

This is a REALLY tough task and its just about impossible to find players that are similar to those on the Bulls championship team

Toni Kukoc: Peja Stojakovic
These 2 couldn't be more different. Pedja is a one dimensional player who happens to be a great shooter. Kukoc was an all around player who could do every thing well but was not outstanding in any area. I think Hedo Turkoglu is the closest thing to Toni Kukoc but even then Hedo is at least 2 levels below the great Croatian.

Sorry if I am coming accross as picky (;))but Kukoc has been one of my all time favourites. I remember going to games to watch him as this awe struck 7 year old. The man could play all 5 positions for certain period of time. In 1994 World Champs he was playing PG for Croatia. He was that freaky with his versatility.

Why does it automatically have to be a European who compares to Kukoc?

Why does it automatically have to be a European who compares to Kukoc?

for me it wasnt automatic. hard to find a shooter who can handle the ball, play soft D and pass well. Actually Odom could be a fit without the 3 pt shot.

Bogut (Longley)
Okafor (Rodman, D and rebounding)
Artest (Pippen, can play D and score)
Kobe (Jordan, can score when he wants)
McKie (Harper)
------
Turkoglu (Kukoc)
Mutumbo (Parrish?)
D.Jones (Kerr?)

still doesn't look very championship-esque

Okafor and Rodman?? Nah... Rodman is a far superior defender and rebounder and Okafor is actually an offensive weapon whereas Rodman was all about defence.

Artest is no Pippen. Bogut kinda resembles Longley, Bogut will improve though and be better than Longley in the long run, but right now, they kinda match. Turk is no Kukoc. Mutombo offers way more than Parish who was largly useless in his final few seasons.
