1997 Umpire Premiership

I have that dreaded Adelaide v Geelong 97 final on tape, knowing once again that in the first quarter, the crows got 2 frees in front of goal to get back into it. I watch that tape over and over, and i still dont know what they are for. Then there is colberts mark (even though he turned out to be an arseh*le), which no matter how many times i press rewind and play, it is never paid, and hockings goal in the last quarter- I paused it right when it crossed the line - but it was not paid. The Crows were so lucy to win that final. It shits me each time i watch that game, but it makes me reinforce my point to whover watches it with me how many cruicial decisions were made against us. I have been known to scream at the TV when they show all the crows supporters celebrating after the final siren. 'You areseholes should be thanking the umpires'...is one of the less dirty remarks i make.

all i can say is bad luck!

It is very rare for the crows to have any luck with umpires, so i guess it was just the way the cookie crumbled!

Anyway what are you doing still going over a final that you lost? Forget you even played that game! Let us crows supporters relive and replay those glorious days! He he he!

There were undoubtedly some decisions that went against Geelong that night, Colberts mark is only the most talked about one. I'm not agreeing with all of your umpiring whinges on this game, but I do admit that there were definately some that Geelong fans have a legitimate beef about.

But why not show just a teeny tiny bit of fairmindedness, and mention also the mark to Modra that was not paid, or the goal awarded to Geelong on the final siren that actually came off Bickleys boot? The point being that there were also a number of wrong umpiring decisions that game that went against Crows.

In the end, Crows won that game by nine points or so. Umpiring weirdness cost each team some goals. Crows were the better side.

Your tape should show you this, if you watch it through both lenses of your glasses without the rose colouring.
