Listening on the radio , apart from paying out Neil Craigs match ups etc it seemed there was a lot of fumbling and lack of confidence in the forward line.

What was it? Were there positional moves or did players make more effort?

'Roo said after the game they have trouble getting the balance right between offensive and defensive play.

Well for a start at quarter time someone inserted a brain into Burton and he turned into a gun! But the first quarter was mostly just poor disposal and a lack of options and confidence. It was a complete reverse thankfully in the second!

I think the signs were there in the last 5-6 minutes of the 1st 1/4 that we were beginning to rein them in and get something going.

Yep I commented at 1/4 time that the worst thing about the scoreline is that we'd dominated play for the last 10 mins of that quarter but our disposal was ******** and we didn't have any targets. But turned around completely! Did I mention that i'm ********ing happy? :)

Fair crack of the whip with Burton. He was one player who could hold his head up high in that first quarter.

Timw for the slaggers to get off his back - sure he makes clangers but that's part of the package.

He had a damn good game tonight.

I agree, bit stiff with the 50 and overall I thought he was one player that seemed likely to do something constructive.

During the first quarter I was visiting my Dad at Ashford Hospital and nearly had a coronary myself - couldn't help myself but yelling at the TV. Very frustrating to watch but then I thought that we gifted them 4 of the 5 goals - Rutten does a short pass across goal, McGregor gets caught holding the ball (harsh but it was there, the only problem no consistency for the rest of the night), Burton has another of those moments and gives away 50 metres and then Milne gets an opportunist goal by our defenders not punching the ball thru. Yes, we were down but we gave it to them and then shut them out for the remaining 3 quarters.

macca23 the birdman gave the 50m in the first quarter. But you're right hes got something and a little bit of arrogance too which aint bad. The lack of game time that reilly is getting concerns me, although he is soft he got us the free and the first goal that we needed to get going.

Nail. Hammer. Head :)

He was still our best player in that first quarter by a bloody universe. He was actually the only one that gave two hoots about the match. Every one else left their brains in Adelaide.

That effort to get that free and kick a goal is far from soft ;)

no he didn't.

without even seeing the game, i know a handball missed the target in the third quarter, thus invalidating anything he may have contributed to the game as a whole with his other 29 odd touches. ;)

I considered the first quarter typical Burton, great winning the ball and yes i acknowledge he went in hard at the footy but he was too often prone to those brain flashes he seems to have. Read my post and it says "inserted a brain", he played well but was wasteful in his disposal thankfully after 1/4 time he came out firing and we won the game! :)

I would love to know what distance and at what speed Burton covered on Friday.
The way he was both loose man in defence and loose man in attack DURING THE SAME PLAY!!!! Was more than impressive it was amazing!

PS: I still believe that he should have worn the brunt of it the previous week, as much as I think he deserves the plaudits this week.
Same guy same intensity different outcome, (You call it brain fades I call it Misrepresentation :) and should be held liable)
