I can understand 24 years..Sometimes I wish I had been mate.
Just had a look - couldn't find anything that he hurt his achilles first game back but got some knee and ankle issues a bit later in the season.Rodgers didn't play again till the next season and he hurt himself week 1.
.. to be fair, last time Essendon tried to be 'innovative' with the science side of things it didn't end well! Hoping Draper makes a full recovery and can come back better than ever. I dont see any benefit in a quick timeframe though, take as long as it takes. I would love to see him stay at Essendon, one of my favourite players to watch. Feel quite sad for the big guy.We haven't been the most innovative club for the past couple of decades but hopefully we look far and wide as most of us are going to get withdrawal symptoms not being able to see the big man for a while.
We got those guys from Geelong!!!.. to be fair, last time Essendon tried to be 'innovative' with the science side of things it didn't end well!

This silly game really grinds my gears sometimes.
There is innovation then there is recklessness.. to be fair, last time Essendon tried to be 'innovative' with the science side of things it didn't end well! Yeah and he has those ashy AF anklesIt wasn't a fast return, but the best return from an Achilles I've seen (ie came back just as good as before) was Kevin Durant, who ironically is a similar height to Draper.
Happened in game 5 of the finals, missed the following season, didn't skip a beat the year after that. Durant is a freak of nature that didn't rely on his athleticism to be an incredible player though, so not the best comparison.
100%. Sorry for the intrusion, but agree with this. Rodgers is a non conformist, anti vaxxer with some truly peculiar beliefs. At age 38 he could take a risk, is he probably only had 1-2 seasons left in him (debatable - should have retired). That’s ah…putting it interestingly haha.
As a long time Green Bay Packers fan, I would be comfortable with Draper following zero of Rodgers approach to…well, anything haha.
You don’t mess around with this stuff. Not when you’re only Draper’s age. You do whatever it takes to get it right.
you’re at the bargaining stage of griefis there a chance that its only a partial achilles tear instead of a complete tear?
yeahyou’re at the bargaining stage of grief
just listened to scott's presser with the typical kicking of the back of the leg feeling. pretty much a full rupture at that point100%. Sorry for the intrusion, but agree with this. The best example for recent Achilles injuries are Josh Goater at North ( march 2024) who got back to training this year, but has now done a hamstring, and Callum Coleman Jones who did an Achilles on good Friday last year and still isn't back.
You're right - don't mess around when someone is 24 - get it done right, and put in the physio/rehab. Maybe back mid-late next year.
We also had Hamish Mcintosh in 2011 have surgery on one Achilles preseason, and then the other in March. He didn't even have ruptures. Club kept saying back in 3-4 weeks but he didn't come back until round 24, playing just one game for the year. These things take time.

Hamish eyes return
North big man Hamish McIntosh is hoping to return to the field within a month following surgery on both achilles tendonswww.nmfc.com.au

Yep you should feel comfortable posting on here about any topic… unless you’re a Hawthorn supporter critiquing our coach when your own coach is a smug prick who showed utter disrespect for his playing peers at their lowest ebb. There are always exceptionsIt says something about the culture of this shithole forum if people with genuine input feel the need to apologise for contributing.

I did that on the Carlton board and they banned me for 2 weeks. Apparently they didn't like my input about their shitty cultureIt says something about the culture of this shithole forum if people with genuine input feel the need to apologise for contributing.

Of their team or their Bigfooty board. Probably both I imagine hahahaI did that on the Carlton board and they banned me for 2 weeks. Apparently they didn't like my input about their shitty culture
They're a miserable bunch of pricks. When they lose they post pictures of syringes on their thread about how long it's been since we won a final. Highbrow stuffOf their team or their Bigfooty board. Probably both I imagine hahaha
Their board. Their rules. Exactly the same as here. If you want to have a go at their shitty culture that is the one place not to do it if you value your ability to post.I did that on the Carlton board and they banned me for 2 weeks. Apparently they didn't like my input about their shitty culture
I got banned for a year from their board about a decade ago or so ago; worth it.I did that on the Carlton board and they banned me for 2 weeks. Apparently they didn't like my input about their shitty culture
Yeah, dude, nothing wrong with that.I did that on the Carlton board and they banned me for 2 weeks. Apparently they didn't like my input about their shitty culture
