That bump was cruel. But you gotta love David Schwartz giving Hird the Rock Bottom in the aftermath. It was just like wrestlemania. Anyway, Dean Wallis on Mil Hanna was a better, and fairer, bump.

Don't know about if it was intentional or not but you can't say the bump was good it could of put Simmonds in a wheelchair.

Ruined the reputation of a fair footballer. Everyone (besides maybe some essendon supporters) remembers him for that bump (amongst other things).

Unfortunate incident for such a decent player (up to that point of course).

He will always be remembered for his run in the 93 grand final. That and i remember another thing in the grand final, i think it was just him and Justin Madden, and Longy was trying to get around him. the commentator (cant remember who it was) just said "take me on, take me on, take me on he says, and he still gets away with it". That was the best piece of commentary I can recall because it summed up Longys game to a tee.

I was sitting directly in line with the posts and I can confirm SOS touched Longys goal at least a foot before it passed through.

Hanna was KO'd before he even hit the ground

Long on simmonds was pretty bad, his head was over the ball and simmonds had no way of protecting himself.
