Fabulous, surprised you are rolling your eyes without a reason. A better informed poster may assist here but it is my belief that under the club's constitution a senior player having fulfilled 10 years service is automatically offered life-membership. I'm not sure that is so for an administrator (could be I'll have to check) but certainly for someone at the discretion of the incumbent Board can be commended at an AGM.

I believe Ian Dicker, notwithstanding some of the blunders the Board have made over the past decade (eg: Schwab/Turnbull), has been a tremendous asset for our club right from the start of his tenure, that is immediately after the 1996 merger crisis in that he contributed from his personal wealth an infusion of funds which went a long way to saving the club.

He has been very active amongst the membership (maybe too close to the players, some of whom have been personal guests at his home in Aspen, Colorado) and always supported the interstate supporter groups. Personally having had signed letters from him whenever I wrote to him about my concerns from time to time. He really has been a good and worthy president, albeit genuinely heartbroken about our dismal lack of success over his time.
