* wont trade biglands
* clarke has already signed a new one year deal from what i have heard
* mcleod will bot be traded
* bode wont be traded
* skipworth will be delisted
* if we trade mcleod, we will get a top 5 pick i would imagine and i rekon that player will play
* ottens more of a forward than a ruckman, more a pinch hit ruckman so doubt he will be our starting ruckman
* i think andrews may be upgraded too!

- if Carke has signed, I'm actually happy about that & even more reason to sign dumbo Biglands.

- we must trade 1 gun midfielder for the future IMO Roo, Edwards & Goody more deserving to stay & Macca needs a fresh start.

RooDog said:
* bode wont be traded
- only a good ordinary player with average disposal IMO & better to invest in new young talent.
RooDog said:
* skipworth will be delisted
- would have said that too 2 months ago, but done enough to be kept another year.

- true, but I assumed we used Macca in a 3-way deal to land Ottens.

- Ottens has mainly rucked this year.
RooDog said:

- no point IMO as he is not ready, so keep him on the rookie list.

Theres no way Skipworth is going to get delisted. Theres about 25 players on our list that have been inferior to him this season as far as production goes, and hes still young.

Ottens WILL NOT be traded. FACT.

horses mouth stuff, it simply wont happen.
My gut feel is you are right, but we can only hope. With Gasper taking a unusually huge chunk from the Tiger cap, he may not be happy with his new offer...

Not sure about 25 players Carmelo, but he has done enough for a 1 year contract extension & has age (youth) on his side.

Otten will NOT play for the Crows
Skipworth will not be delisted
Bode will be traded only of we get a good offer for him otherwise he will stay
Biglands won't be traded
Clarke should retire
Andrews should stay on the rookie list for another year

HF: Pavlich, Tredrea, Burton

Trades: Heath Black
Will be interesting to see whether the Saints can afford the likes of Black, Ball & Dal Santo under their salary cap. Brisbane too will feel the sqeeze too as Eddie has forced the AFL to reduce their cap allowance. Out of this there may be a handy player whose salary cannot be squeezed under the cap. With more than usual retirements of experienced players, we should have plenty of room in our cap.

B: B. Hart (30) M. Scarlett (25) J. Rivers (19)
HB: M. Pavlich (22) K. Mc Gregor (23) G. Johncock (22)
C: S. Goodwin (28) M. Rucuito (29) C.Judd (20)
HF: A.Davey (21) W. Tredrea (25) D. King (19)
F: B. Ebert (21) N. Riewoldt (22) D.Wells (19)

R: J.Fraser (23) T. Edwards (28) G. Ablett (20)

INT: B. Schammer (19) D. Brogan (25) L. Power (24) L. Jericho (19)

The trades needed to achieve this line up are too complicated to reveal here but by approaching the trade period with the same ultra-professional "leave no stone unturned" attitude as was used in the recent search for a senior coach the AFC can pull this off :)

I think Black will probably go to WA and if there is a squeeze on Brisbane's salary cap then I would go for Headley (sp??????) 100 miles an hour;)

Yes you do.

We're obliged to trade for an unfit, injury prone, soft or all of the above key forward from the Kangaroos. This is called the Mark Stevens / Welsh / Hewitt / Carey rule. {Corey McKernan - come on down!}

We're also obliged to take a punt on a key forward who's never looked like much chop, other than the one half decent game he played against us one year. This is called the Standfield / Schell / Scott Stevens rule. {Troy Longmuir - we're coming to get you!}

Our third compulsory trade is the exchange deal, where trading an ordinary player who spends most of his time in the SANFL for an ordinary player who spends most of his time in the VFL is supposed to benefit both parties with a "new environment - new start" outlook. The actual result is that our new recruit, rather than spending most of his time in the VFL gets to visit the glories of Noarlunga or Elizabeth routinely, and is out of the AFL within 1-2 years. This is called the Gallagher / Nelson, Downsborough / Chalmers, Pesch / Ormond-Allen rule. {Goodbye James Gallagher - hello Simon Fletcher!}

Bit harsh on Stevo. Yes he has had shocking 2 years injury wise BUT you can't seriously call Mark Stevens trade a bad one. I thought it was one of those trades where both teams come away with a win. Stevo has been sensational for us. A premiership player, 2nd and 3rd in the B&F, and a couple of Best Team Man awards. I would do a trade like that any time thank you very much.

Hadley would be a great get but I think they would want to keep him. Still low priced I suspect and a future star for sure.

I like Stevo as much as anyone, but you've got to admit that he played 2 games in 2000, and 11 in 2003-2004. He has been a great player, but an injury-prone one.

yeah i agree he has been awsome for us - i'd go as far to say he needs a decent send off if he retires

i reckon telstra dome and stevos shocking fall style cost him his football career,
