Now the seasons over I thought I would make a list of positives for the year. Add to it as you wish

- The years is over
- We found a dominant clearence midfielder in Foley who has excellent pace and improving skills. He finished the season slowly so another pre season will do him good
- McGuane and Thurstfield. Both look very capable players with great closing speed and decent accoutablity. Should both be startes in next years team
- The return of Newman and Brown, both have had good seasons and will be even better next year. Newman spent some more time in the middle recently, has shown he can be a goal kicker and averaged a good 18.2 touches a game. Brown kicked 21.14 from just 11 games
- Richo has found a new defensive game with more running and pressure, works harder then any other footballer
- If Pettifer had his round 10-22 form for the whole year he would be AA. kicked 37 goals for the year and averaged 16 touches beating his previous season of 31. Brown - Richo - Pettifer foward line is a very potent set up
- The emergence of 3 first year players playing AFL in Edwards, Conners and Jack + Peterson who has impressed at Coburg.
- Jackson bought himself another year to hopefully lock down a midfield position
- Patto has been fantastic, hes gonna be shaped into a 2nd ruckman who bassically plays as another midfielder. Once his goal kicking improves he will be a champ. Will finish top 10 in the BnF

Pretty much just saying the kids under 25 have been the positive for 2007 wraps it up nicely i think :D

Happy with ALL our young players! But Newman and Pettifer are really getting good hey? I used to be the biggest Pettifer bagger, I'm soooo happy that hes come on! Definitely worth the 9th pick we spent on him. Newman- run, smarts, skills- great!

:) im glad pettifer is getting bagged out less too :P its a win win situation for everyone. He will be massive for us next year, mark my words...

Foley needs to back up this year.

He can't do a Tuck of 2005 and be another average player.

He is too quick to fall away I feel. We all know how hard he tried over last pre season, if he does that again he will be top5 in the brownlow next year. What he really needs is Bling and Coughlan to help out in the center, to get some heat of him.

Picture all these players playing top grade football, who is the number one man to watch from an opposition point of view? Bling, Deledio, Foley or Coughlan?

i cant believe you all forgot him....

JAKE KING

absolute gun:thumbsu:
Oh i didnt forget him. He is a Key defender, no doubts. Possible one of the only players I dont want to get any bigger, he uses his light frame and shortness to get out of any situation. A brilliant pick up :thumbsu:

Have you been listening to the hilltop hoods? You are right though. He has been a gem. 100% Tiger blooded
His handballs for a big bloke are unbelievable. Its like having another midfielder once the tap is taken:thumbsu: Who are the Hilltop Hoods?

Been happy with polack this year so far his had to play ruck for a good number of games and came to punt road a bit behind. if he can step up next year and learn to play as a key defender taking an opposition player then that be perfect.

Agreed Jimmy a very nice pick up :)

Hilltop are just a hip hop group :P they have the words 'a heart bigger than phar laps' in one of their songs as lyrics :P

Throw in Deledio as a forward:thumbsu::thumbsu: Good positves I agree

The big positive of deledio being able to play up foward basically means the kid can play all over the ground, hes going to be a legend ...

Not many players can look deadly coming off half back, deadly on the wing, deadly in the foward line (he can play as a tall or small foward) and now all we need is for him to develop as a midfielder.

Pettifer,s 4 goals in front of his new coach couldnt have been better scripted.Landing us with a 1st rnd pick:thumbsu:

Pettifer NEEDS to stay...

Our full foward line of Brown - Richo - Pettifer is as good as anyone elses, we just need a Half Foward line and Huges to step up as our CHF and Schultz to step up to help Richo

Also Pettifer bleeds the club and has been in great form.... trade at your own perril

Brooks is shit and its a shallow draft in which we already have 3 top 20 picks - the only players we should try and trade are Schultz, Meyer and to a lesser extent Tuck

Great form once Brown returned.Cant handle pressure when applied.HFF,s of his type are a dime a dozen. If we can land a 1st rnd pick for him id take it.

Big positive is no serious injuries this year apart from the "known" ones in simmo, hall, noble, browny (early on).

No knees this year which is a good thing. Im looking forward to our ENTIRE squad being available come rd 1 2008 barring any preseason mishaps of course.
