2007 Positives

Ok guys lets look past the doom and gloom and realise alot of good things happened this season:

Van Berlo: We've always known it and now the world can see why. He is a player! He's always had the defensive game but this year his offensive game caught up. Is going to be a superstar

Knights: Ok, so he has his flaws, notably disposal. But his improvement this year has been off the charts. Can anyone else remember the last time we had a bloke playing his 2nd real season average 25+ touches a game?

Hudson: Coming back from a knee reconstruction he was able to lead the rucks all year and was a constant inspiration to his teammates. Will only get better next year as distance is put between himself and the operation.

Gill: For a bloke who alot of people were whining about before he even got a chance he showed alot of signs and when our season was on the line he stood up despite his inexperience, a real player of the future.

Griffin: He certainly got tired towards the end of the year as we all expected but his start to the year was absolutely freakish. Some of his games, notably against Brisbane have marked him as having elite potential.

Thompson:Stepped up this year and is a first tier midfielder. Dominated the clearances and offered leadership all season long.

Mcleod: Probably his best season for 3 or 4 years. Was vintage coming off the half back line

Porplyzia: Hands of absolute steel. Is a natural playmaker and I have a feeling will be a very good player next year!

Once the dust has settled I'll give my thoughts on the year (it's just a little too soon atm.....)....

.....for playing all 23 games this year. Very fine and consistent years. Stevens has certainly proved his worth over the last 2 years after being heavily lambasted as someone with nothing offer.

hats off also to Bock, Hudson, and Knights who only missed 1 game. Chris has been the big improver this year in terms of taking ownership of his career and place in the side....

To be honest I didnt think there was heaps of positives from this year. We went chasing an unwinable premiership. Didnt move our list forward enough this year IMO.

I hope that next year isnt a repeat of this year, time to make some tough decisions and to look at 3-4 years ahead and not just next season.

Its very hard to see any positives from 2007 ATM. The development of a couple of the younger guys like VB, Knights, Porps and Griffen has been good. Probably the biggest positive was getting the double over Port.

Other than that I think we can only have better luck next year. This would have been the worst season for injuries for the club, ever!! Perhaps the worst season for injuries of any club ever!! Season 2008 starts today, we need to get the surgeries out of the way early and get our squad back to full fitness ASAP, so we can at least start next season with our best team on the park. Something we never did once this year.
