In 2007 we lost our first 3 games & made the prelim. This year we have lost our first 3................. This season will let us know whether BS is as good a coach as Dean Laidley. The jury is out.

So you're trying to tell me that if we dont win the flag this year, that means that BS is not as good a coach as Ron Barassi (in 1977 we lost our 1st 3 games & then won the flag).

The difference is we are currently building a side, in 2007 we still had the likes of Simpson, and Grant and guys like Petrie, McIntosh and virtually everyone else had had a pre season. We didn't have the injuries we have and weren't playing guys like Grima and Cunnington who have had limited pre seasons or the Petrie's who have played 3 games since 2009. We also don't have Corey Jones.

The similarities are, we would've smashed Collingwood had've we kicked straight, and we certainly had our chances to beat West Coast, and we were in several winning positions against Hawthorn, and had our chances against Freo. We never looked like it against Collingwood, and although the margin was much less, never quite looked like it against Port Adelaide in 2007.

It's funny also that Thomas kicked 0.5 against Collingwood on debut, and 0.6 on sunday.

I don't know what any of that means but I was thinking of the similarities yesterday.

1975. In 77 we won 5 in a row to start. And yes it was 4 losses in 75.

In round 5 we beat the cats at Kardinia park, so there's something to hang our hats on if we lose this week

Edit: Of course this is a meaningless omen since the fifth team we play this year is Port, not Geelong. Duh.

Nah, it's just a change from Hansen's a spud, Thomas is hopeless, Petrie needs a run in the twos, Ziebell's a hack, McMahon'd be lucky to crack a game in the VFL reserves, Thompson's brain fades mean he should be dropped. Christ, I even read yesterday that Swallow is useless and overrated.
