I dedicate it to my brother Brett who unfortunately suddenly died this year. He would be wrapped with out team list now. He was a young passionate blues member and now I am as keen as ever to see Carlton succeed, for his sake.

I hope this picture helps build on the hype and encourages others to get on board and buy a Blues Membership for 2008. Use it as you wish, print it out, out it on your office wall, send it to others etc. If you do, tell me where you have put it. It will good to hear that it has some life/legs, whatever they say. Just don't edit it without my permission.

Some of the proportions are exaggerated as it is a cartoon.

Looking at it - Big Irish is focussed, Fisher is Pumped, Murph is excited and Big Fev is laughing at the quality of delivery coming his way in 2008 by Judd, Stevens and Co.

Well done, top effort. You've got some great likenesses there but you have absolutely nailed Hoops. Many condolences on the loss of your brother. Unfortunately only time will lessen that pain. Hope you get a lot of satisfaction from the boys this year.

Thanks guys. All very kind. Brett and I used to talk about the blues all the time. He was a long distance member, but we got to go to the blues v dons game together at the start of the year. It was the last game we could manage together again. He told me it was the best game of footy he had seen. God that was a good day.

He was one of the best players in the local grandfinal and won a premiership. PE teacher and just an allround top, friendly bloke. We didn't know too many blues fans where we grew up in the country, so Carlton became a strong way that we could bond. I was into art, him sport. We both loved the blues.. and backed them up in all conversations.

Thanks for your kind words. Brett was buried in his blues jumper. 3 was Brett's first footy and favourite number and it kind of followed him all his life. Died on the 3rd, was 33 etc. It was wierd for me to look back and see what round number it was we last went to together, let alone the winning margin.

We both agreed that Carlton's next flag will the be the sweetest of all after everything that has happened with the blues in the last few years. I hope he is watching. And I hope Carlton do it while the coach's name is Brett. Go Blues.

Thank you for you sharing your caricature YB, looks fantastic.

Top job mate, can't be easy losing a lover one, let alone a family member. Hopefully the boys can pull out a few suprise wins for him, or even wear an armband for him. It's possible, Heath Black and a few other wore an armband for my nan when she passed away when Heathy was playing for the Saints, he was her favourite player.

Thanks mate. How would you go about getting a player(s) to wear an armband? I would imagine that if the players didn't know the person, they wouldn't. Afterall people die all the time. Waite was Brett's favourite player, but I am sure he would be pumped anyone at the Blues wore one for him. Do you think it would be possible? What is the best way to go about it? How do you know if they are wearing it for one particular person that has past?

That is pretty weird about the number 3. Maybe we could all see it as something positive like, maybe we will win the Grandfinal in 3 years? (2010).

*I'm not particularly sure but you'd think that if you let waitey know all about it at a training session or something alike that then he'd at least consider it. It's true, people do die all the time, but not everyone consideres Jarrod Waite as a hero.
*Very possible.
*Again, probably confronting Jarrod about it would be the best way to go.
*It's not usually publically stated when someone personally decides to wear an armband, but it's more of a personal feeling, a feeling where inside yourself you can think 'he's wearing that for Brett'.

Also, one problem may be the time distance. If I may ask, how long ago was it when he passed away? If it's under a year it would probably be ok, but over that it would probably be a little of a long shot. But it's certainly worth a try.

Hmmm i dont know about approaching Jarrad about it to be honest. Let's not forget his dad died a few years ago. Could be a touchy subject...

All the mroe reason to approach him. He knows what its like to lose a family member, and someone connected to the club too.

I think it would be a great idea.

My deepest condolences... there's nothing that can prepare you for losing someone like that, and there's nothing that can justify losing someone so young.

But that is an absolutely fantastic drawing mate, you are undoubtedly a talented artist and I am sure that your brother is looking down proudly.

I'm not sure how you'd go about getting Jarrad to don an armband, but best of luck. A good choice for his favourite player, too... I don't think many have embodied the Carlton spirit as powerfully as Jarrad did on that fateful day.

Best wishes mate

True. It took a lot of heart for Waite to get out and play on the day his dad, Big Blue Vin, died. Jarrad definately embodied the Carlton Spirit.

I liked this bit in Robert Walls article about Vin - 'Despite the success and adulation that came his way. Vin never changed. He loved going home to the bush to catch up with family and friends. It didn't get much better than sipping on a cold can waiting for the fish to bite.'

Sounds like Vin and Brett would get along very well. ie. Fishing with some cool cans. - That was his fav past time.
