Pick 14 - Western Bulldogs - Ayce Cordy (F/S)

Great pick up here for the Bulldogs, Ayce Cordy will need alot of time in the gym but he should be ready in time to partner Minson when Hudson retires, Shows good strength for a skinny boy, has a good pair of hands and is good in traffic and below his knees. Should become a great player for the Bullies!

Jackson Trengove

The Saints got their man. Tall KP that can play both ends of the ground. Excellent reader of the play, great work rate, agile, quick and huge leap. With the retirement of Max Hudghton looming and the uncertain future of Matt Maguire suddenly the backline is looking shallow. Of course there's always doubt surrounding their recovery when a player ruptures the lateral ligament in the knee and tear the hamstring in one motion. But with promising Draft Camp Results he looks to be recovering very well and soon to be back to 100%.

Pick 15 - Geelong - Aaron Cornelius

I think Geelong will go a KP Forward here, With lack of Forwards I think they will pick up Aaron Cornelius, Good strong mark who can cover FF or CHF should become a very good player and with geelongs midfield should get the ball delievered well!

Pick 16 - Hawthorn - Stephen Hill

I just think that having Hill available here is worth picking over needs.
He has rised in the ranks of the 2008 draft. In the under 18's he beat Scully and Hartlett. An atheletic player who is a good mover and dominated the agility testing and 3rd in the 20m sprint and vertical jumping.

He has the ability to play a run with role and also win a lot of the ball himself, it seems whatever he puts his mind to he is successful and is a team player.

Real tough pick this one.

17 - Melbourne - Mitch Robinson

Have been on the Robinson bandwagon for awhile now and couldn’t let him slip by, especially with West Coast up next I doubt he would’ve made it past them. Tallish mid who can destroy opposition lines, evade the tackle and give the ball a fair roost. Has a bit of size about him already so he would be one ready to line up early in ’09. Can play inside and outside and use the ball effectively on both sides. Will be a great addition to the up and coming demons midfield.

Pick 19 - Melbourne - Ryan Schoenmakers

We have found Watts' partner in crime. Forget Buddy & Roughie, this is the next dynamic duo. After a solid effort at the U18 carnival and impressive Draft Camp, Schoenmakers' stocks have risen. Likened to Ryan O'Keefe, strong hands, booming kick, blonde hair. Probably a bit quicker. At 193cm there is question surrounding weather he can hold down CHF. I personally think if he can grow that few cm taller and bulk up a bit more he can definitely make it his own. Definitely a player to look for. Watch this space.

I will have to use the 6 hour rule here, just to get the game moving along.

I've used the Official Bigfooty Trial run draft as a guide as to which player to pick here.

Pick 20 - West Coast - Michael Walters

There is a need for a small forward in the eagles and Walters is a super quick and elusive left footer. He will be an excitement machine in the Rioli mold and will love the wide open spaces of Subiaco. Walters will start as small forward, then later in his career drift into the midfield using his speed and lace out delivery into the forward line.

Being a local boy did not hurt his chances, but he is still worth of a first round selection. The Eagles have covered many area's with their first 3 selections.

Pick 21 -- Fremantle -- Nick Suban

Tough as old shoes solid onballer/ utility. Had a very good championship last year and was serviceable again this year. I don’t see that much upside to Suban however you know what you are getting with him. A tough uncompromising footballer who will be ready to go at AFL level. Hard to categorise where and if Suban will go come November as there are always players like Banner, German, Hughes, Sloane and Zaharakis competing for limited spaces as well as a tonne of little blokes in the VFL like Andrew Horne who are equally as good.

Pick 21. Port Adelaide - Ashley Smith (Dandenong) - Mid-top aged 185 / 84 HBF/WING

- 2008 Vic Metro U18 squad
- AFL-AIS graduate
- Blisteringly FAST (no. 1: 2.80s 20m at 2008 Draft Camp)
- SOLID build and balanced
- SUBLIME RF kick of the footy, excellent distance, penetration (can carry it >60m) and precision
- Can kick goals from 55m+
- Potentially a 90m player of HB or a wing
- Good vision
- POISED
- Reads the play well
- Clean hands and a quick, precise handballer
- Well balanced/poised
- Outside and plays off pack in the midfield ... doesn’t win much inside footy
- Works well into space
- I like him in a HBF general/playmaker role, but is versatile enough to play most lines

Another best available selection, though it doesn't fit in too badly needs wise as Port could do with a playmaker off HB with Senior Burgoyne showing signs of aging.

Pick 23 - Essendon- David Zaharakis

Gone for the pacy midfielder to compliment the Bombers style of play. Has shown this year that not only can he play midfield but can go forward and kick goals as well. Another Northern boy to go with Hurley.

Pick 24 -- Fremantle -- Neville Jetta

Excitement machine who can kick goals, run quickly and do the exciting. Clubs looking for an exciting small forward will look at Jetta. The big question is whether Jetta can do the business in the midfield. I believe he is the type of kid that will put in the hard yards from the start..

Once again the 6 hour rule.

Pick 25 - Brisbane - James Strauss.

Brisbane have stated that they will target midfielders in the coming draft and Strauss has all the tools.

Will loving having Bradshaw and Brown to target. The first two selections could set the foundation for many years to come. He is a hard running midfielder with good foot skills. May start his career as a HBF in the same mold as Adcock.

This is also the 6 hour rule, as it is the same person selecting.

Pick 26 - Richmond - Jordan Roughead.

Taking a midfielder with their first selection, decided to boost their ruck stocks. Roughead is a stocky ruckman and is very hard bash and crash styled player. He also has the ability to take a good grab and is rather agile around the ground, has the ability to rest in the forward line.

I may as well keep this thing moving.

27. North Melbourne - Jarrad Blight (Swan Districts) - BOTTOM-AGE 189 / 73 UTILITY

Will edit in thoughts later, but another best available selection for mine.

Pick 28 - Adelaide - Nick Heyne

Well the Crows have addressed one need in KPP/RUCK and now looking to focus on midfield. I was tossing up the local boy O'Keefe and Heyne for this pick but Heyne won. Anyway, this guy is a brilliant attacking footballer with loads of potential. Very good skills with a beautiful left foot kick and is a superb mark. However, his negative side is that he can't put a whole game together but his patches of brilliance are electrifying. Crows should be happy with their first two picks.

Pick 29 - Collingwood - Jordan Lisle

Well even though Collingwood's priority is the midfield, it is very hard to pass up on this kind of talent. Lisle is a tall KP who can play either ends of the ground. Collingwood would be trying to develop this kid into a defender as I believe he is best suited there. This U18 All-Australian CHB is very competitive, with good skills and an extremely good pair of hands. There are some doubts over his athletic ability, but he is too good to pass up.

Sorry mate but I have to pull out. I'm struggling for time on the computer as I have had a lot of work. Good luck though :thumbsu:

Quite happy to take Perth Swans' teams Tarquin.

Pick 30 - Sydney - Tom Lynch

Sounds like a plan, they're yours. Means you're picking for 3 teams...

EDIT - Clyde's Mullet is also selecting for Sydney and West Coast, so please send PM's to him when it is their pick.

Thanks

Pick 31 - Western Bulldogs - Rhys Okeefe

Lucky me im amazed hes this low, hopefully it happens in the real draft :) Rhys Okeefe is very talented, very good kicking on both sides, plays HBF but when he gets abit older I think he could move up into the Middle, Imagine him and Gilbee both very talented kickers!

Pick 32 - Western Bulldogs - Jayden Post

Will proberly go another tall here, it was him or Paul Cahill but because of Grant, Cordy, Boumann I think we will go for a tall but I think it will be someone like Post, great leap playing in the back line could possibly turn into a forward?? (I think) and yeah would be a good pick up!

Pick 33 - Geelong - Luke Shuey

With going tall in the first round will proberly go for someone like Luke shuey, good midfielder to add to all their great midfielders good kick, could become a very handy pick up!
