Today signals the start of this year's Clipsal 500, as I can now hear the cars roaring away in the distance. Some people think its a nuisance, some love it, personally, I really enjoy going and think its great for Adelaide.

I'm particularly looking forward to the concerts to this year, albeit Saturday night, and the weather for once is pretty good!

I personally can't stand motor racing, but understand other people do and what it does to the economy, so I tolerate it. I simply give the City a very wide berth for the next four days.

Out of curiosity, I wonder if the V8 drivers genuinely think this is one of the highlight events of the V8 season or it's just another round for them, and they pull out the same, 'great atmosphere' line everywhere they go.

This part doesn't make sense but I assume you mean that Saturday night has a shit line up? If so then I agree, I might be heading in tonight but certainly going tomorrow night to see the Presets & Faker ... will spend most of the day drinking saturday and may come back for Wolfmother Sunday :thumbsu:

I've spoken to a few of them, at the actual race and some other places; the guys I've spoken to have all said they love Bathurst the most because it's Bathurst, but, after that, the Clipsal 500 is their favourite event by a mile.

Not a big fan and hate the traffic congestion which even seems to effect the Western side of town, but realise its great for the economoy.

What cracks me up though is people walking round town fully dressed in holden or ford gear with the tickets around their necks on lanyards. How can you one support a car manufacturer with any passion and two, people in town don't care that you ahve tickets for the clipsal, put em in your pocket!

I guess you could say the same for those that walk around West Lakes Mall pre-match wearing their season tickets on their lanyards (which I do). It's a convenience thing, and there's less chance of losing the ticket if it's around your neck than in your pocket.

Agreed CG Saturday night = Country crap, will be staying tomorrow night that's for sure.

Although the weather was great today  And is meant to be great all weekend

Exactly. What's the point of having a lanyard, and then sticking it in your pocket where it might drop out or get lifted, or putting it in a backpack that you then have to open up and rummage through at the gates?

I don't give a shit if you care or not, it is bloody easier having my gold pass around my neck so when I have to show it 10 times during the day I don't need to go ramaging through my bags or pockets.

YAWN! Yeah racing where the overtaking happens in the pits BORING!

Agree mot exciting thing for me about GP is what B747 freights we get into Melbourne airport and RAAF F/A 18 Hornets, speaking of which you should have one doing flyovers on the Sunday for the Clipsal 500, see if someone from here can nail a few good pictures of it:thumbsu:

Heh I'll try but my shitty camera never really gets good shots of them, I do work near the RAAF base though can get some nice shots of some Orions and Blackhawks :)

Yup.

Here and Bathurst they get the rockstar/F1 treatment.

I've been to Barbagallo, which was a great viewing experience, and a few others, and they get the sheds out the back like the support races do here.

It's a fantastic event, and they genuinely love it.

Clipsal is probably the best event - although from a sheer selfish motorsport fan POV it's a bit annoying the amount of people that go, that genuinely have no ****ing idea. Craig who? HR what?

It's like sitting next to that old granny at the footy. Except there's tens of thousands of people with no idea. "Oh but I went to the Clipsal!"

I love the Clipsal, but Bathurst is genuinely an amazing, amazing place. One of my most treasured experiences. It's an eye opener, but it's a fantastic weekend.

Very easily.

and two, people in town don't care that you ahve tickets for the clipsal, put em in your pocket!

Have you been?

They're a ****ing godsend when you're going up and down the pit straight stairs 20 times a day.

Given the recent pictures that emerged they don't have a career in pr0n either. I think she has since left the band but they were terrible shots.

Hey don't knock Abby Winters, they do some quality stuff! ;)

The band though, Operator Please? Never heard of it.

Went and saw Powderfinger last year on the Friday, they were just plain awesome, people ho had been to see them before were telling me it was the best Pf show they had ever seen. Nothing interests me this time around though, not enough to get past my loathing of close quarters crowds anyway.

Powderfinger were awesome last year :thumbsu:

Gyroscope were pretty good last night and The Living End. Didn't get too see much of them due to being pushed around all the time, that crowd was nuts.

Gyroscope were very good last night but The Living End was amazing. Loved it when he played his guitar with a corona.

Massive crowd with plenty of drunk bo-gons around the place that had obviously been there all day.

A guy wh did some guitar tech work for my old band turned down an offer to be the Living Ends 2nd guitarist when they were about to bust out because his band was bigger at the time....oops

The double bass is just plain sexy to the ears.
