Mase, you are spot on old boy. Harmesy was sounded out by a couple of clubs over Essendon FL way but he was offered the Lower job which he accepted. Well done to Lower. He was never offered the Whittlesea job. BTW, you might find a couple of close relations to Puffa will be appointed reserves and under-19 coaches at Macleod. Watch this space...

I heard he was sounded out and also Watsonia's coached knocked back the Whittlesea job because he wasn't allowed to bring the staff he wanted into the club, also that ex coach Hammy was overlooked for Peter Bugden. Maybe thats why the committee went with Bugden again because as a newish coach he will let the committee have a big say in the coaching department.

Romper get your info correct. Wayne harmes wasn't offered nor did he put in for the whittlesea job.

This is quote a bizaare reponse as I have emails as long as my arm
confirming what Romper has mentioned, nonetheless, fantastic pickup
for Lower Plenty which can only be of benefit to their cause.
Harmsey will always be welcome at Macleod with extended hands.
If only opposition clubs could offer the same respect to their
current coaching appointments......

COACHES APPOINTED FOR 2009
Macleod has announced the appointment of its coaches for the 2009 season as the club prepares for an exciting era under 2008 senior coach Cristian ‘Puffa’ Brandt.
After guiding Macleod to the Grand Final in his first year as senior coach, Brandt has been reappointed senior coach for the 2009 season. “Puffa had a great year in charge of our young team in 2008 and we can only go forward from here,” Macleod president Derek Shaw said.
There will be two new faces on the coaching panel in 2009. Craig Brandt has been appointed reserves coach and Joe Gillett will coach the under-19 team.
Like his brother, Craig Brandt has had a distinguished career at North Heidelberg where he played in two senior premiership sides, has coached the reserves and more recently was chairman of selectors. Brandt also played reserves and under-19s at Collingwood. “We have a big influx of our under-19 premiership team ready to step up to senior football and Craig is the ideal person to guide them,” Shaw said. Craig Brandt will also assist Cristian in the seniors on matchday.
Gillett, a former Macleod player, takes over as coach of the under-19s. He coached at Macleod Junior Football Club in 2008 and is looking forward to coaching the next batch of under-17 players who will graduate to the senior club in 2009.
Pre-season training starts with a ‘Meet The Coaches’ night at Macleod Park (home of Macleod Juniors) on Friday, November 21 at 6pm. Macleod has already made three big signings – Nick Lynch and Cathal Corr from VFL side Coburg, and former best and fairest Daniel Watts will be returning to the club in 2009 after a year in the Eastern FL. Anyone interested in finding out more about the club’s plans for 2009 or pre-season training can contact Cristian Brandt on 0425 775160.

Brenton Kinnear (son of former Swans coach and Carlton football person Colin) will be Wayne Harmes assistant coach for 2009. Also have plans in at council for new electronic scoreboard to be built at same time as changeroom extension. New football department doing a great job.

I read a lot on this website re teams that choke and coaches and whatever and then all great excitement re Wayne Harmes coaching lower, l may be wrong but wasn't wayne coachng Mcleod in two of there trilogy of grand final defeats?

On paper, 3 consecutive grand final losses isnt a great record. but the fact is, they should have only won 1 of those. They were never going to beat Greensborough in their first appearance, they should have beaten Lalor in the 2nd and were 3rd or worse in season 2008. So I cant see how it is choking if you are clear underdogs. They can be labelled chokers for their effort in 2007, but not for the other 2 seasons!

Maybe the first loss aint that bad but by 2008 you think they would have learnt a few things. Should have beat Lalor in 2007 then played Thomo in 2008 who come fom nowhere 3 years ago. Have to take you oppotunity's when they come otherwise you might miss the boat.

I think the point you were making originally is that Lower has made
a poor choice based on Harmsey's 2 year stint at Macleod.

Bottom line is, WTF would you know ?

I thought l was asking a legitimate question, l have some mates at Mcleod who l might add have never bagged Wayne Harmes and l have the greatest respect for Mcleod l watched a few games in 2007 and it maybe his style but he almost seemed disinterested in the games l saw as l said that could be his style , l must admit my reply to you was probably poor but if you do not agree with people do you have to call them names all it does is inflame people to fire back

I just think you're a hypocrit questioning Harmsey's coaching record
and mentioning things like "Choke"

Who do you you follow ??? I think it's South Morang

You're consistently posting gossip on the doings of Whittlesea club, players and coach, in particular the "ex-Morang" boys.
I reckon you're just a tad jealous of club's like Whittlesea, Lower Plenty
and Macleod, teams that are consistently thereabouts, unlike you club.

Put up or shut up

No change in the senior ranks at Heidelberg with Phil Plunkett staying on in 2009. Stinger Harvey has stepped down as captain and will be an assistant coach.

You are strange actually read what was originally said there was nothing said about anyone choking l said l read a lot about choking l did not think l was being disrespectful to anyone and as l said l have the greatest respect for all the clubs that you have mentioned above, l try not to be negative just generally respond to strange people

whittlsea have had the best coaches before eg; easton hanlon mcewan they could have any AFL coach it wont help because the politics at the place is unbelievable and its the clickiest place ever. the most mentaly soft club in the northern suburbs

2 negative posts on a personal level suggest you have issue`s. Is a non playing assistant coach, was selected by Harmesy. I think we will trust his judgement over an invisible persons.
