2009 Draw

I think that would have to do with the poor brand of football we were playing. No one wants to watch that. Even us. But yeah i agree we do get a bit shafted in terms of exposure.

How come we don't end up with not even one home friday night game. teribble.

I'm sure that the way we have been playing has affected our ratings and popularity over the last two years.

I heard this year we were top 5 for ratings by Club and have been for a few years.

Only 4 interstate teams got Friday night home games for 09 and we play in 2 of them both in Adelaide. Strange.........

More Sat nights would have been good.

It's one Twilight Sunday rolling onto another............

If Benny Cousins is running out for the Saints then we are sure to get big ratings. Maybe AFL should rethink our draw when we pick Cousins up next month.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Plenty of people will come through the gates and tune in to St Kilda next year if we have Ben Cousins. He's an eye catching footballer for many reasons.

Not Port, may as well lose 4 points without playing when we go there.

06, Melbourne at the G I think (Season Opener if my memories ok).
07, the last few years have gone,04 roos, 05 lions, 06 eagles, 07 melbourne, 08 swans, and 09 swans

R1-R2: 6 days (Adelaide has a 6 day break as well)
R2-R3: 8 days
R3-R4: 7 days
R4-R5: 6 days (Port has a 6 day break as well)
5-6: 9 days (this is the week we're playing the Dogs, and we get 2 days extra recovery over them)
6-7: 8 days
7-8: 6 days (Essendon has 2 days extra recovery over us)
8-9: 7 days
9-10: 6 days (Melbourne has a 6 day break as well)
10-11: 7 days
11-12: 6 days (Carlton has a 6 day break too)
12-13: 16 day lol
13-14: 7 days
14-15: 7 days
15-16: 7 days (3 Sunday games in a row, 2 twilight)
16-17: 6 days (Playing the Dogs, and this time they get 2 days extra recovery over us)
17-18: 7 days
18-19: 7 days
19-20: 8 days
20-21: 7 days
21-22: 7 days

A lot of Sunday games to finish with...

5 6 day breaks in the first half, 1 6 day break in the second half. We should come home strong.

Not happy with all the Sunday games!
And playing 5 interstate teams in the first 5 rounds?
When was the last time we played a Melbourne team in round 1?

Melbourne, 2007.

It's awesome brother!

Our average winning margin in twilight games is 108 points!!!!!

Really ?

I suppose we did not have too many twilight games the last three years (the Rd 22 Essendon thrashing is the only game that I can think of now) ?

But good to see that there's something positive about just about everything !

At this point that draw looks piss easy. Shame they won't be on tv as much though. I'm pretty confident of another finals appearance next year.

I am happy with the draw but far from happy with the number of Foxtel games we have. It is obvious that we have been shafted.
I know we have not played the most attractive brand of Footy but surely finishing fourth must count for something.
The fact that Ess, Carl, Rich all have more free to air games really makes me cross.

I thought about getting pay TV , but the price is crazy if all you want it for is to watch the Saints play.
It actually works out a lot cheaper to drag my young family to the Telstra dome every week that there is no FTA ( Although it is a pain in the ass - "I'm hungry", + "I'm thirsty" + "I need to go toilet "+ "I'm bored" ) so that is what I will be doing.
That just leaves four interstate games that are not covered by FTA.

For foxtel games, I go to the local pub and watch it on their sports bar. Not the ideal situation for all, but it's pretty good.

I'll do that for the four Foxtel interstate games.

The problem is that while my wife has learned to live with me going to the footy, she knows that I'll be back after the game (I don't drink when I'm driving and typically will only take the train to MCG games).

Watching the game in the pub, however...

Do what I do - take the wife with you (if that's possible). The Blonde Bombshell helps immensely - distracts the opposition fans from my rantings at the television!

How much do your charge to loan her out then brother? Hahaha.

She's looking at me with a bit of a growl, and says, "Tell him the wife drinks VERY expensive wine (that's not true - the port dram she buys is the cheapest booze on the pub's list), and is thinking of starting a little rant of her own... right now... and not at the television..."

I'm thinking the price might be a little steep...

Every war has it's casualties my brother.

She doesn't mind footy (well, she doesn't really like it, but she doesn't mind it - she hates soccer) and will join me to watch two or three games at TD per season. This year she joined me for the Freo game (and wanted to leave at half time as she claimed that I 'behaved in a highly embarrassing manner') and the Melbourne game (and wanted to leave at half time as she claimed that St Kilda would win anyway and hence the second half would be boring).

But there is certainly no way she'll join me in the pub just to watch the footy - she'll bring friends along (who are equally uninterested in footy) who will annoy me (and will be annoyed with me) as I will want to watch the game, meaning that I will not have a lot of time for them and possibly 'behave in a highly embarrassing manner'.

Haha man, I don't think I could go out with a chick that doesn't like footy, much less marry one!

Kudos.
im not sure A2R, having a missus that has no interest could work well, no interest in the footy, no understanding of the game
eg.
"ah yeh love the game went a long time today, a big 12 hour game, oh you should of seen" said with many more slurs and beer stains down the front of your top!

all ready for Eng tomoz?
