2009 Expectations?

St.kilda to finish 7th.

The club will remain a middle of the road type club for the next couple of years. A decline will start after that, as the saints will not have enough quality young players coming through and Reiwoldt will start to slow down. With Max bowing out in 2009, St.kilda would need to get really lucky with rookies coming through the system. I think the club knows this, hence why St.kilda have the largest list in the AFL.

Macca and Lynch not too have too much impact at senior level in 2009. Still developing. Armitage will show major improvement in the midfield. Stevens to make his AFL debut and play 10 odd games. Dal Santo and Kosi to struggle again in 2009, similar to their 2008 seasons.

Gwilt, Eddy and L.Fisher will be gone by Nov 2009.

Just some predictions I have thrown out there. Expect most of them too look foolish by September 2009.

I think Eddy would need to show a massive decline for him to be delisted.

Coach seemed to like him last year, and he didn't put a foot wrong for mine. Did everything asked of him.

Your right Rough Edges. However, with a question mark about his kicking, and the fact something unexpected always happens in football (very unpredicatable, like all sport) Who knows. I acknowledge that Eddy did show some good signs in 2008.

He shit himself in front of goal a few times, but I just think he's played out of position - he's a handy back pocket for mine, but we seem obsessed with making someone a lock-down forward. X, CJ, and Eddy were all tried there with little success. Unless the player is capable of hurting the opposition on the scoreboard (i.e. a very reliable shot for goal) it is a waste of time.

2009 Expectations? Maybe that the vids on SC will start working. Response from AF :

Hi Squizzy,

Unfortunately the video player has some issues depending on you browser and computer settings. It happens to me every now and again as well. Because of the AFL’s contract with Telstra, we are bound to use the video platform provided but we keep working hard alongside Telstra to improve our service for everyone on Saints Central.

If you have any feedback on Bigpond’s service, please don’t hesitate to post it on the message board and we can use it in our meetings with Telstra to make our website more accessible to all. It’s not good enough, and we know it, and we are certainly taking it to Telstra at every meeting. it will be fixed, but when?

Go Saints!
Archie

The frustrating thing about the AFL/Telstra deal is that neither side wants to actually take responsibility for it. It's stuffed. Telstra blames the AFL and tells you to talk to them. The AFL blames Telstra and tells you to talk to them. And once you've talked to both back and forth, they blame YOU became you're using Firefox or whatever.

Ultimately, we can only hope the AFL realise that the whole mess is making THEM look really bad. Youtube is a better visual resource for AFL then anything the AFL puts out with Telstra.

Got my membership in the mail today brothers.

I watched the Harves DVD, good stuff.

Trevor Barker appearing on my membership card as well which I thought was a lovely touch.

Sam Fisher on mine.
Still waiting on the rest of the family memebership packs.
But I got the DVD even though I signed up a couple of days late.

How many consecutive years have you been a member SS?

Good to have you aboard mate.

I was just asking because I thought the differing pics on the cards might have something to do with years of membership or perhaps categories of membership.

are you both standard members? or social?

I want Trevor too ... hope they look after us interstaters ...

and more importantly I hope I get to more than 1 game this year.

I'm a social club member.

Argh I hate SC as well. Never worked at all, then it began to ask me to download some sort of add-on which isn't compatible with XP. Then when I finally upgrade to Vista and download the add-on. I just get a black screen.

Wonderful.

Telstra have come out and stated that their player is only designed to work in an IE environment and that they have no plans to change that anytime soon. Perhaps instead of pushing for youtube / stream, we should be petitioning for a direct download alternative maybe? Telstra may own the rights via web streaming but I'm unsure if they explicitly state that a download in avi format fo rinstance is disallowed as an option for distribution.

Jesus, what year are Telstra in? 2002? FireFox is used by almost 40% if not more of the population these days.

Infact FireFox is almost trumping them these days. 45.7 compared to 44.4. And FF is slowly catching up.

It's worse than that, A2r. Telstra are living in the dreamworld that they can dictate things like what browser people will use. The internet, by definition, is about saying "stuff you" to corporations that FORCE us to do things. That's why Google works - it never MAKES you do anything, it only offers you cool fun useful stuff. Telstra says "Do things our way, or else." Everyone's response is, "Fine, we'll take 'else'."
