Expect the same old for the Chargers, if they can win enough games when school footy is on they are a chance. The new format of the TAC with an earlier start and more byes throughout the year should help them.

Looks like Castricum and Van Den Broek as the 19 year olds. I don't mind the look of their squad, plenty of them got experience last year. Currently have eight in the first Vic Metro squad which is a reflection of the talent on their list. And guys like Gaff and Michie really should be elite players in the TAC Cup this year.

Anybody got thoughts on this list?

Batsanis: brother of?
Max Otten: brother of Andy?
I wonder what the break up of private school lads vs. government school lads would look like? It is often a significant issue for Oakleigh, who probably have more signficant Private Schools in their area than anyone else.
I know it isn't much of an issue here in Bendigo. Neither Catholic College nor Girton put the restrictions of their lads that schools like Trinity or Scotch do in Melbourne. Bendigo's biggest issue is getting all the lads to training when they may live 400 km away in Mildura.

Flag favourites?

Loaded with private school players again, but the fact they'll get four rounds out of the way before school footy kicks off will be a bit of a bonus for them. Should account for Sandringham and Western easily, then the game against Calder will be a beauty in Round 3. No reason they can't go in at 4-0 and with each team only playing 16 games, they'll be well on the way to a top four position at least.

Saw the Chargers on Sunday for the 1st time this season, and boy oh boy, do they have a talented bunch of players. To name a few - Andrew Gaff, Alex Croft, Thomas Schneider, Daniel Ahearne and Viv Michie.

Think they lose about 12-15 players to private school footy. If they didn't, they could just about go through the season undefeated.

they lose about 18-to 20 your right but the public schoolers can back up the chargers good work with ryan lester, nick batsanis, alex johnson, viv michie, jackson bolton, nick murphy, max otten, aisea valetini, josh ralph and more players pushing the bar a very good side i think they have enough to be competible when the school boys go away!

Gday ALL...looking for some info on Tom Curran............
1.Is he the son of Peter Curran..??
2.How old is he and is he this year or next year for the draft...??
3.Is he a Kpp ...Hgt/Wgt......Fwd/back.....
4 Can he play positives/weakness's....
Any info would be great.....Cheers Dasher...:thumbsu:

Yes, he is the son of Peter Curran. If he is drafted, it will be next year. He is a KPF, around 194cm tall. A decent mark, skills are decent and for a big guy his forward pressure when the ball is on the ground is good.

what happened when the school boys left....
you obviously didn't realise that viv, johno, ryan, schneider, bolts, cassidy
would make the metro squad

Conole gone. Third Man Up on the money.

AFL Victoria advertising for a Region Manager via their website.
Seemed to run a good ship down at Oakleigh so hopefully they can find a capable replacement.

New coach, new Regional Manager - beginning of a new era for the Chargers!

On a different note, I see David Code has stepped in and replaced Peter Kennedy at the Knights while he's on Long Service Leave. Good to see Code back involved in some way, the competition was better when he was in charge of it.

Any up-coming future stars to keep an eye out for??
