To anyone who's heading out to the game... please cheer Alex Carey on for me. I'm hoping he'll have a wonderful season for his new team.

Has anyone heard what colours and emblem the team is playing under yet? Have been checking the website but can't find any info.(I live in SA)

I found the team selections tonight on Sportingpulse TAC home page, but can't believe they haven't even got the club listed on the drop down list for clubs

Youngsters ... Greater Western Sydney

This was from a Daily Telegraph article. I
m guessing there's no moniker/name just GWS.

Seems to be the light blue, possibly two blues of NSW.

Yeah the team looks pretty good. Stevens in pocket will rotate through the middle I would imagine but has been struggling with his delivery. Bruce will be strong and Gourley up forward has a big leap and good hands. Webster is a gun , Anderson plays way above his size and I have no doubt they will all have a red hot go.

I will give Carey a cheer for you as I will be there.

Should be some good football tomorrow with the best young talent Australia wide on display.

After the TAC Cup game Sydney Swans Reserves take on the AIS Squad.

Swans are playing a number of their Scholarship players and the AIS Squad is essentially an All Australian u/17's squad ... GWS gets priority to list I think 12 of these AIS boys in the 2011 draft ... could be a preview of things to come for GWS fans.:thumbsu:

... again, frustratingly difficult to find anything about it:thumbsd:

Went out yesterday

Northern knights just to slick & well drilled moved the footy beautifully, hit targets by hand & foot.

The big fella up front Barden strong hands & good on the lead though would of loved to see a gws mid fill the hole to cut his leads gws full back ferguson I think tried hard but wasn't getting to many chop outs from his mates.

Caddy was good as was maric, though not many of them were bad

Agree with Mc Connell re his best, carey didn't dominate but was consistent through the guts & got the ball going forward, williams has something about him looks quick, stubbs showed some signs but didn't stand out, webster & murphy got better as the game went on dimery looked solid, hartley despite what I'd heard & seen from coff's dvd's had a go nearly took a super grab in the goal square & rucked well all around the ground & given his age can only get better, moller taps well a little lost around the ground but only young & will get stronger, wonder if thats his dad wandering around with the dreads if so the kid could fill out to be a solid enough ruckman.

As a blues boy was interested to see bray didn't show a heap but didn't seem to be played as a kpp so maybe wasn't a true reflection, hope to see him run around again, pity they were missing brain & cole, brain in the guts would of been handy (from yesterday seem to have some options in there for winning & getting it out carey, webster, murphy, dimmery, stevens & brain) & cole at CHF could of given them some direction.

Stevens got a bit of it but took some strange options sometimes hopefully will improve.

Disappointing well the inability to consistently hit targets, all but a few (those named in best) took to long to get rid of it especiallly by hand resulting in HB being under pressure & poor quality, similar with kicking just to many poor decissions & poor execution, peery didn't look up to it, newell fumbled & looked out of his depth, flagg didn't get a heap of it.

Thought the guernsey looked ok would love to see the red replaced with a strong orange for the setting sun, blue orange & white think it can work steer clear of the red due to swans a full orange away strip with a little blue & white trim could look great

AIS swans didn't hang around long but some of those kids look quick & skillful

Thanks Convert. I've sponsored & watched him since he was 12 years old. I'm hating being so far away that I can't see him play now.
Truly Appreciate the offer :)

Flaggie Falcon

Alex Carey was good throughout the game. He also got the coaches nod for his game so a good start to the season

Given that the neither the GWS or TAC Cup website are volunteering the information and the team was selected yesterdday does anyone have a team list for this weekends game against Queensland.

Interesting that the TAC Cup site has a drop down menu listing the clubs and GWS does not even get a mention. Can someone get the backroom boys on the job? We are interested and want to know stuff but it is all too bloody hard. Even little suburban clubs do better than this.

Get your act together.

WHAT A JOKE!!!.... who's playing, when, where ???

.... sorry, too hard to follow, lost interest!

With Sheedy coming out again and stating he will go all over the Globe to find the talent ... in other words, saying skrew Western Sydney, we only have our office there, I'll just stick with Western Bulldogs as my second side and boycott games west of Bankstown.

Thanks G&F. What is wrong with GWS doing a bit of work to get the team up on website early so people who have interest can know early. Also why can't they lean on TAC Cup/Sporting Pulse to update their site to include the GWS club.

Sorry for the moaning but I thought it was about promotion and marketing. Get people interested in the U18s and it will follow through to the Club. This week will be interesting when they are at BoP in direct competition to Sydney first grade. The crowd may suffer and other interested people will not know its on.

Fair point convert, you would think even paying for an ad in this todays sydney papers would be worth the effort to let people know it's on.

You would have to pay as it appears from the herald at least (don't read the other unless I find it on the bus or at work) the only footy in sydney is the swans & hinds doesn't really write about actuall footy & is about as funny as cancer. Don't really know who is running the show out there but you would think that an oppurtunity to talk about actual football & present some of the young blokes to the public & build interest would be the way to go.

They have 2 years to start introducing the team & some players to the people of sydney, i'm sure there are some interesting stories amongst some of the boys out there about how & when they got into footy, which could show that it's not all transplanted talent they are relying on.

Good to see brain listed he goes very well, not sure about pianta at CHB have concerns about his attack on the footy & decission making, hope bray goes well, not sure about mahony could be a bloke who looks super fit but just lacks a little something, could be a jude bolton type will wait & see, is stubbs injured.

Will most likely make the treck out again this weekend, think i'll see more tac & rams than syd prem this year though may get to the village green a couple of times

You are right about Brain. They missed him when he was ruled out last week. I guess Pianta is being given his chance as they have stated everyone will get a go. There are at least a couple in there who need to be watching their backs after pretty ineffectual games last time. Not sure about Stubbs but a few others have been disappointing particularly as they have been relocated to Sydney. Skills have been poor particularly disposal and shots on goal.

Only early yet and hopefully will continue to improve as season progresses.

Thought bruce was very good across half back took a couple of very good pack grabs, carey got it a heap & got it onto his boot a lot & very quickly at times sometimes to the detrament of his team could look for other options at times but very classy, anderson a tough little bugger who wants the footy may be first gws player to throw a punch, bray did some good things around the ground kicking let him down at times, gourley was solid, dimery was good again must of gone close to being in best again, webster did some good things but wasn't as promonent as previousley, ferguson tried hard at full back & pushed up the ground when he could, heartley was impressive on the lead & in the air up front kicking let him down at times.

Pretty much qld kicking first 5 straight in first 10 mins knocked gws about, 1st minute or 2 looked even then qld went bang bang bang, mostly from turn overs & skill errors, they did kick some gems though.

Gws had their chances a shot at the end of the 3rd would of put em very close & then a slow start again to the last qtr cost them any chance much better performance though & if they kick a little straighter they win, pity would of done them the world of good & even got some publicity.

Hope someone in ballarat can give us an update, I hope t see the swans play this week to watch nic nat in the flesh

Thanks for commentary SB. The official silence is deafening. No story on TAC Cup website. No story on GWS website. No story in any newspaper except Bayanda has arrived. Good story but obviously the game you saw on Saturday did not really happen. They must have a big email address list, I know I am on it, why not use them to keep people in the loop.

I just keep banging on about it but what happens, SFA.

Just think after this week no one will have seen the game, probably will not get a score until about Wednesday. FM they are poor at it
