Hello fellow Tigarians,

Just out of curosity, what do we take from:

  • This year so far.
  • The rest of the year.
  • And next year. (What are our realistic goals? Where should we finish...)
My veiw on them are that this year has been more a learning curve for the coaching staff than the players. The kids just need game time, but the coaches have learnt a lesson or two. And Reiwolt has learnt to add more strings to his bow.
The rest of this year should be used to blood some more players and work on game plans.
And next year, well, I would like to see finals, but if they don't well, as long as we go forward from this year, then thats a win.
A big goal should be our rucks, centre clearences and kids.
And hey, if we don't finish 7th or 8th, then at least 9th or 10th.

I would love to see Tugga and the mods veiws. My apologies to the other mods, I can only remember Tug's name tonight.

The floor is yours.

Good post T55.

This year -
Positives - we have a number of young players who look to be long term players

Vickery, Riewoldt, ?
Helbig, Griffiths, ?
Conca, Martin,Deledio
Batchelor, ?, ?
Grimes, Rance, ?
?, Cotchin, ?

In my opinion this is a pretty strong nucleus of players who given the right coaching and development should take us to a number of finals series. With Martin, Riewoldt, Cotchin, Deledio, Vickery, and even perhaps Rance and Griffiths we could have almost enough star power to give top 4 a shake in the not too distant future. A few spots up for grabs but we still have time up our sleeve. A good mid with our first pick this year and next year with two first round picks should see us find the additional quality that we need to be top 6 in 2013. The other spots to be filled by improvers on our list/role players/trades.

The rest of the year

Mostly I want to see more games pumped into these kids and am hoping that we can win a couple of games to give us some momentum going into next season. I've been pretty happy with how the kids have had plenty of opportunity this year but when it comes to Post I think he needs a run of consecutive games to gain the belief that he belongs.

I'd also like to see Deledio challenged to become a premier midfielder for the rest of the year. He needs to be given the opporutunity to prove he is elite.

Next year

Realistically we could be anywhere from 14th to 7th next year. Due to our lack of depth a couple of injuries to key players could see us really struggle. Having said that our kids are only going to be fitter, stronger and more knowledgeable next year. Another good midfielder in the draft, 22 games from Ben Griffiths, a preseason into Foley, and Astbury cementing a spot at CHB could see us make the 8.

Agreed BigStyle.
Is Lids asking not to be played in the middle? Because he have put him there before (Rawlings) and he does ok, and we know he can run the middle, but I just don't think the coaches are not putting him there. I feel its him not wanting to go, and if thats the case, then thats a shame.

This year some of our kids have stood up & shown what they will become in the future.

Conca ................ smart inside/outside midfielder that creates play & uses the ball beutifully.

Batchelor .......... Proven already that he will become a very reliable
backman that distributes the ball well and again very good user of the ball, I believe next year we could remove delidio from the hb line and turn him into a very damaging, goal kicking wing/hf,

Rance .......... Huge improvment from rance this year, many had him gone but has really shown us what he can do & what an asset he will become once our young backs develop & play together for an extended period.

Grimes ............ Fantastic before his injury & is coming along beautifully along with Rance,Batchelor & Astbury will become a permanant member of our back 6.

Griffiths .......... Well what can i say BOOM/BUST depending on his injuries & i am wishing like hell the kid is over them along with Vickery & Riewoldt They are going to terrorise backman for over 10 years

Vickery .......... Huge year from a huge'' boy'' I say boy because a 20-21 you 200cm Ruckman/Foward is expected to take another 2 years to get to the level that TV reached this year & I'm am loving the AGRO & Confidence he is showing on the field

Astbury ......... The minute i saw this kid play his first game in the yellow/black was at cragiburn practice game & I told my friend we have a player here. He was thrown into the chb position way to early and forced to play on the gorilla's and lowered his colours before injury.
Expecting a bigger/better/stronger player next year also provides a huge benefit up foward if needed.

Ruckman to be recruited, without a doubt our mids have started the games and the year behind the 8 ball this year without a decent ruckman & I'm sure with the injection of even a decent ruckman will atleast give our mids a chance to get 1st use of the ball alot more than they have this year.

All these players i have mentioned will no doubt be better next year than they have been this year with another pre-season , more strength & experience under their belts.
We already know what we will get from the likes of
Jack,Cotch,Dusty,Lids,Foley,Newy,King

But for our team to really get to the next level & The pressure will be on the following player who make up our The rest list who have been at the club a fair while & really have to pull the digit out if they remain on the list & not get traded out.
Nahas,White,Edwards,Connors,Farmer,Post,Morton,Thursty,Mguanne,Moore(which can be excused due to injury) Gourdis
All the highlighted players will be available & On the table for trade i believe.
