I've just read with interest that the sub continent are getting it, after last having it in '96, while we haven't had it since '92. Any reason for this? Seems a little unfair.....

Guys be realistic...the subcontinent would make a hell of a lot more money than of Australia and NZ hosted it.

That is the way sport is these days

Yeah so why is it so important they host it in 2011 and not 2015? Will the money not still be there then?

Because the ICC allowed the Indians to buy votes.

The subcontinent think they own the Cricket World Cup like America thinks they own the Olympics.

Except the tournament would twice as good in every way imaginable if held in Australia

The most inequitable aspect of the decision to award them this was that they didn't get their submission in by the deadline whereas the Australasian bid was in on time.

The ICC predictably turned a blind eye to this.

Was that the case? That makes it even worse. Cricket equivalent of the IOC awarding the '96 Games to Atlanta....

it may very well be organised better but the sepctacle would be NO WHERE NEAR as good!

U cant have evry world cup there but u cant realistically have a situation where the the Subcontinent has the world cup every 20 years or something...that would be a financial disaster for the ICC...

Its like the Soccer world cup, europe will haev every third one or something, like the american superbowl, like any major sporting event...

I'll presume you mean spectacle? What do you mean No where near as good? You mean not enough bomb threats if the WC was held in Australia and NZ?

Rubbish, financial disaster? You're kidding.

How much cashflow do they generate from pointless ODI series again?

I agree, who on earth wouldn't prefer bomb threats and roads for pitches compared to a packed MCG under lights. Who on earth would want the MCG, silly idea

I'm sure most people apart from the diehard subcontinent patriotics would much prefer playing over two countries with excellent conditions for playing and visiting and feel safe and secure over four third world countries which are littered with conflict and hostility and have rather disgusting conditions.

Yes it was certainly the case. Back to the old cliche 'money speaks all languages.' They should have been told that if their submission was not able to meet the deadlines, they would not be considered to host the tournament. Pusillanimous body the ICC though.
