Hmm, that's a good one, and one I'd probably consider. Conca is good, but he has shown as much as Tyson to be honest, and we are getting another first round for a mid 2nd.

We'll have Tyson, 9, 13
We'll lose Conca and 31

I doubt he'd want to leave, he is a WA boy. If he's going anywhere it's back home.

take that in a heartbeat

NO - NO - NO WAY

I'd consider it. I like Conca but can't say I've been overwhelmed by him, at least not to the extent I think he & pick 31 is better than 2 first round picks an ex-first round pick with only one year less than Conca of AFL experience under his belt.

Would be quite ironic though if pick 9 or 13 was also a Sandgroper.

Can't see GWS having any interest in this as they would be looking for a more mature body (+1 to 3 years in the system than Conca) as they have a bounty of players at or around Con's age.

Also, we need to be careful of getting fixated with the thought of 'shiny new toys'

Conca has been good to V good to date matching numbers with most if not all of his peer group and playing the role he has been assigned in the team. I am looking forward to seeing the challenges that are thrown to him in 2013 off the back of another pre season which I assume will include more time in the midfield rotation.

I think Tyson has the makings of a very good player. That said I think we have very good options at 9. Happy to leave it to the Tiger list management/recruiting brainstrust to come up with the right outcome.

Tyson is worth every cent Conca is , GWS wouldn't do a direct swap far less adding sweetners and Conca wouldn't go there.

Spot on. We would be on the back foot asking for a straight swap, let alone an 18 pick upgrade as well

Conca and pick 31 for Tyson and pick 13 ;)
Forget about Tyson. Its not going to happen, not this year anyway.

What we should be doing now is looking to get some real value out of our later picks by trading for some more depth.

What we should be doing is trying to see if there is anyway that we could trade #9 to get #12+#13 from Gws
If their interest in Nahas is genuine - We must try to get this done

would love that trade, vlastuin and stringer/garner/other slidder :)

Our best bet now is that someone picks up Sam Shaw.
1. Whitfield (no brainer)
2. Toumpas (no brainer)
3. Grundy (Giles leaving, Brogan aging)
4. Mayes (already got an accumulator in Viney, why not get a silky mid)
5. Plowman (Lake gone means that the Bulldogs need a key defender or they're gonna get smashed)
6. Shaw (Bulldogs' forward line is screwed up)
7. Macrae (Port can get best available or they can get an accumulator in Wines or Vlastuin)
8. Wines (Black getting older means they need a new accumulator)
9. O'Rourke (the Bulldogs might get O'Rourke instead of Shaw so we might get Vlastuin or Garlett, Knightmare has us taking Garner but that will most likely not happen because he's got iffy decision making and disposal, but can accumulate. Still like the prospect of Garlett, not some kid who just gets the ball and gives it to the wrong person)

How would this change if each of the clubs recruited on "best available" rather than needs?

I'd rather keep pick 9, that way we get to take the best available, rather than waiting to see which kid is left. Nahas has been shot down by the club so the talk about him it would seem was nothing more than internet chatter.

According to my friend, whose father is prolific at the Dees, they're likely to take Wines at 4.
Hence my top 10 is starting to shape up as:
1) Whitfield
2) Toumpas
3) Grundy
4) Wines
5) Plowman
6) Mayes
7) Garlett
8) Shaw
9) Macrae
10) Daniher

Pick 9 is actually a very strong pick in this draft, because picks 4-11 are all extremely even. This means we could land Plowman, Garlett, Macrae, O'Rourke or Vlastuin who are all excellent players and none we would complain about. I leave Mayes out of that group because there is no chance he will go past PA.

I'd trade 9 for Mitchell, Tyson or WHE, but I would still be very excited if we took any of those players with our pick.

If we are seriously considering Dayle Garlett at Pick 9, then we could do a lot worse than pick up Cruize Garlett as a handy sidekick (cousins? might need to check that one first...........)

More than happy for Jeff to come over next year!

It is pretty clear that the indigenous boys work best when they have a bit of a posse within football clubs
Could be the cream on the cake as we build a serious side to win the big games

I reckon we'd nab O'Rourke if available at 9.
Which would please him immensely.

Watching the videos they released on the AFL website and I must day that Macrae reminds me of Gaff, he is predominately an outside player but can win his own ball on occasion and like Gaff he from the footage I've seen weights his kick perfectly.

If he or O'Rourke falls to our pick we must take them.

wheres the link to the videos?

O'Rourke won't get past the Bulldogs second pick. They love him.

Garlett, Macrae or Plowman, any of these will make me extremely happy. Plowman underrated immensely. I think can become a utility and play in the midfield. Great kid, will be a very good player. Macrae has moved so far in the rankings, I am even having second thoughts about whether he or Garlett would be the better choice for us.

Martin_Riewoldt is spot on about his mail on the Dees, consider Wines done at number 4 to Melbourne. I think O'Rourke and Plowman/Garlett goes next at this stage to the Bulldogs. Month and a bit to go, plenty of changes to happen. Port Adelaide take a SA Kid I reckon, rumours they like Kennedy, Brisbane missing out on Tippett and getting Maloney may make them reach for a Shaw.

It will be a very interesting draft, so even it is. I think dropping to 12 from 9 and getting something else (like a Anderson or Pick 13) would be the right draft to do this. Very even. Be smart Richmond, be smart. (I have no doubt they will be).

Go to afl website, then go to the video section, then in the search box type in the name of player you want to see. Though it doesn't have everyone's up there yet.

Pick 9 + Post to GWS for 12 + 13

They need a KPD. Cornes will only be around for one more year, Phil Davis hasn't been that great and I personally don't think Mohr is not up to AFL standard. Post is young, and does have a pretty large figure, so would fit in well.

Word is though that GWS will take Plowman with pick 3, so who knows.

Then trade 29 and 31 to WBD for 21 and 47. (They won't use 47, and they have 5 picks before it, so they would basically be swapping 21 for 29 and 31.)

Trade 47 + Graham to North for 35.

Leaves us with 12, 13, 21, 35, which I believe is better than 9, 29, 31, 50.
