This is aimed at keeping tabs and discussion on all aussies, including those playing in the challengers and futures with some chance of kicking on into the main tour.

And I must say the first one is sad that John Patrick Smith who was given a wild card into the Aus open went down 6-2 6-2 in the Burnie Challenger to an fellow Aussie ranked 482 in Mathew Barton. Good for Barton but I would like to have thought someone from the Wild Card would do better than that in the lower tear.

Disappointing for JP, but I think this year could be the year that Barton breaks in the the top 200. He performed well in Sydney qualies by beating Karlovic (admittedly Ivo was off his game) and Ito and won a round in AO qualifiers before being able to take a set of Smyczek.

Another result that is probably the most disappointing is James Duckworth losing in the first round. Now the Pom James Ward is no goose at this level but Duckworth was underwhelming in the challengers 2012 after looking so promising in 2012 Australian summer, he needs to step it up in Challenges and this was a disappointing start and a chance lost to push that ranking into ATP tourno qualifying positions.

Sam Groth to the winners list however, someone who started 2012 about the 700 mark or so and made there way down to 200, A forgotten man but one of the players in some form.

Looking like a good call ag6858, He's made the semi's and I calculate that as pushing from 405 to about 348.. if he makes the final he will be about 310 or wins it to 274. If Millman wins it he will move from 183 to 154. That's a move into better qualifying spots for qualafying for ATP events like Masters events though and for Barton more direct big European challenger direct entry's.

Millman and Barton through to the semis. Really millman's title to win now, should beat the new zelander in the semis you would hope. Robert has had a higher ranking before so he might be a challenge but looks like Barton is another guy to watch out for this year, these results this summer should get him in a few more challengers this year instead of futures, depends where he goes too.Got to admit I don't know much about Barton's game.

Yeah I think John will win it. If he does he will just be outside the top 150 in the rankings. And he plays West Lakes in Adelaide next week. So a good chance for him.

In the women's Rogowska is in the final beating Bobusic 6-2 7-5.

Adamczak saves 8 match points to make the final of Burnie.

A match she didn't waste match points and lose

In that Adelaide challenger next week, we have a matchup of the final in the first round with Millman playing Robert again. Guccione looks like he hasn't given up on singles yet and is playing as a WC against Sam Groth, whoever gets a return in wins.

See young Kyrios has been added tot he West Lakes draw as a wild card. Got a tough one in Brydan Klein though.

The power shots he uses will need to be delivered with more consistency than the junior tournament final we saw to be able to beat Klein, but if he does deliver, he could.

West Lakes draw:

(1) Yuichi Sugita (JPN) vs Jonathan Eysseric (FRA)
Matt Reid (AUS) vs (WC) Alex Bolt (AUS)
(q) vs (q)
James Ward (GBR) vs (7) James Duckworth (AUS)

(3) Peter Polansky (CAN) vs Daniel King-Turner (NZL)
Greg Jones (AUS) vs Adam Feeney (AUS)
Suk-Young Jeong (KOR) vs Benjamin Mitchell (AUS)
(WC) Nick Kyrgios (AUS) vs (6) Brydan Klein (AUS)

(8) Alessandro Giannessi (ITA) vs (SE) Matthew Barton (AUS)
Luke Saville (AUS) vs (WC) Dane Propoggia (AUS)
Andrea Arnaboldi (ITA) vs John-Patrick Smith (AUS)
Stephane Robert (FRA) vs (4) John Millman (AUS)

(5) Samuel Groth (AUS) vs (WC) Chris Guccione (AUS)
Luca Vanni (ITA) vs Jose (Rubin) Statham (NZL)
(q) vs (q)
Alexander Lobkov (RUS) vs (2) Hiroki Moriya (JPN)
Unfortunately Ebelthite the only Aussie to get through qualifying. Saville/Propoggia and Millman/Robert are playing now.
