Nice to have that sort of cash isn't it

It's handy for the club at the moment to be collecting cash off these theatregoers, but if we ever get to the stage of having a waiting list it will be a shame if genuine Freo supporters who would add to the atmosphere get frozen out while these types either don't show up or sit there passively.

We've had two empty seats next to us for about 5 years. Twice we've had friends try to buy them only to be told they are renewed so nothing can be done and there are no seats available at all in our section (309). Can not imagine why someone would keep buying the tx and not go ever. We love the extra room but our friends are new to AFL so wont join if they can't at least sit near us. At least they're not Freagles.

It is all about the trip to Melbourne in September.

The Spring carnival.

The fashion shows.

The w ank

and the football.

in that order.

Tags are still on so that he can return them after the game :p

I'd love to be a member but unfortunately I'm still a student, so can't afford it and my dad works shift work so most weekends we can't make it to the games. He also has hearing problems so can't really stand the noise at the grounds and would prefer to watch at home where he'll be able to hear it better. Can't wait till I have a full time job so I can become a member!

The games are regularly alleged sell outs, or close to it. It's either the sponsors/boxes not being full or members not turning up. The row in front of me in 106 is always half empty, I think it might be reserved for 3 game or country memberships.

For those who do miss games do you sell the ticket back to the club?

We have 4 members in front of us who come to games every now and then. I always wondered why they never came to every game. Then at the derby it all made sense.. they were decked out in Eagles gear.. I approached them about it and they said they bought memberships just so they could get to go to derbys.

It works both ways. I have tickets to their games that I bought in the dark Judge days when they all started to jump off, and rarely use them apart from the derby. I do give them to visiting supporters on a regular basis. A luxury I know but it does give me some perverse satisfaction on so many fronts.

A family of 4 hardly ever show up so I look forward to sitting in a better seat each week. Near some friends and i sit in a aisle seat on the benches.
Suites me fine.

I have excellent seats, five of them! I rarely miss a home game since I've had these seats (10 years) Mostly they are Friday nights that I miss, , this week I had even booked and paid for pre-match function. I'd arranged to finish work at midday, but the boss booked yet one more, just round the corner at HUNTINGDALE! With that and the weather I missed, not only the pre-match function but also the first quarter by the time I got home! Spewing! At that point watching at home was the option!

In answer to a previous post, I never on sell my seats when I know they won't be used, try to get Freo supporters or disadvantage youth an opportunity first. Not always successful though. I see too many 3 gamers in my block with eagles gear and a Freo membership around their neck.

What a ****ing travesty, those are great seats

36,365 at the footy last night - the atmosphere was electric, just need to fill out some of these empty seats.

Average home crowd for 2013: 37,319

At the risk of restarting the new stadium thread, I think that we will be seeing 10,000 or so seats vacant pretty much every week when we move to Burswood. The WC Egos may fare better as they have a lot of members on their waiting list.

Keeping the "seating-membership demand" ratio tight (as at Subi/Pattersons) makes membership desireable. If you're not a member you may not get a seat for the game you want to see. However, if you have 10,000 seats empty every week, it becomes easier to just roll-up and buy a ticket on the day. Membership with reserved seating becomes irrelevant.

Taking up on JMac's point one would think the clubs would have an interst in keeping the new stadium capacity to below 50k. A lot of people already pick and choose whether to go to a particular game or not, even having pre paid for a seat. if you ca get a decent seat rocking up on the day why would you bother taking out a membership(season ticket)?

Slightly disappointing, doesn't seem like we're capable of drawing 40k to home and away games anymore- tonight was probably the most likely chance of that happening.

Still as above the atmosphere is still very good and an average of 37k is nothing to sneeze at.

It is a little disappointing that we couldn't draw 40k to 4 blockbusters. The average will drop as we play the likes of Melbourne and GWS.

Attendance of 37k but you can't get two seats together if you try....

It is one of the perverse results that markets throw up when you have silly conditions:

1 - 1.8 million people
2 - Only 2 teams
3 - stadium holds 44k

Supply is (necessarily) inelastic but the demand curve is picking up a more and more extreme point on it.

The comparable scenario in Melbourne would be 4 teams, with 2 home games a week and both of those games held at Etihad.
