If you read the cheat sheet there is a copyright and a disclosure at the end of it and if proven to have shared it and it can be traced to you, you would rightly be punished.

It doesn't matter if there is the little c sumbol or not. You paid but it remains the intellectual property of the author. You can sell it 2nd hand but can't make copies, paper or electronic. The internet is electronic, and I don't think that posting it on the forum counts as "conversational" in this case as it will impact on the ability of DTT to sell their product.

Posting their cheat sheet after the season could be argued to be conversational use though. But I wouldn't like to be in court trying to explain that when being sued for lost revenue.

The DTT guys put in a lot of effort and I am happy to see them rewarded by getting a bit of revenue from things like this. As to sharing it, I think they release it anyway after lockout? I seem to remember them doing that last year but I may be wrong.

Quite often DTT has in-depth posts that can be quite useful. Although it does in large part tend to cater to entry level DTers, there's nothing wrong with that.

As to people coming along at the last minute and using something like the cheatsheet to get a leg up: (1) they could just as easily come on the rate my dt thread here or on other sites and get very similar material; and (2) it doesn't help them with their trading. In any event, I actually enjoy doing the research in the months leading up to lockout and wouldn't want to skip it.

There is no rule against it, i couldnt care who would hate me for doing so

If they dont want teams released then dont release them, those that have them have paid hard earned money for them (life aint easy) esp for a uni student. So once you buy something, no matter what it is in life you can do whatever the F you like with it.

So guess you missed the note at the bottom of the cheatsheet:

"Purchaser represents, warrants and agrees that Purchaser will use the Download of the DT TALK PREMIUM EDITION CHEAT SHEET PDF only for Purchaser's personal, non-commercial, entertainment use and not for any redistribution of the PDF or other restricted use. Purchaser agrees not to infringe the rights of the copyright owners and to comply with all applicable laws in Purchaser's use of the PDF. Purchaser agrees that Purchaser will not redistribute, transmit, assign, sell, broadcast, rent, share, lend, modify, adapt, edit, license or otherwise transfer or use the PDF. Redistribute it, have your ip tracked, and be sued for any estimated loss they can get a judge to believe you caused them.

You became apart of the pot mix

You became apart of the pot mix

you were on pot when you suggested publishing it - despite it being illegal, everything in there is available and MORE on this forum - if people are doing their research let them choose which form they partake in, not be dictated to by a puppet like yourself.

I don't get why people are complaining about $2 either. You can't really buy anything with that nowadays and I am happy to pay it for the effort the boys put in for calvins captains and all the other weekly articles they put up.

I get sick of coming to these boards sometimes because of people like Dunn Well Dunn who love making everything about their team and wanting to have their opinion about everything and everyone's team. OK offer some advice have some input, but to be seeing KA pretty much posting every second post on these boards is ridiculous.

The DTT authors should be sued for offering insights copied from the good posters of BigFooty. ;)

The disclaimer at the bottom of the sheet means nothing unless it is copyright.

Even if they could sue you, what are they going to do if you change one rookie?

I have nothing against the DT Talk boys and I think their website is awesome and they create some great exposure for Dream Team. But trying to make some money from these dream team cheat sheets seems a little strange when so many teams are almost identical.

They're trying to capitalise on interest in the market. They're welcome to that idea and it does promote discussion. The reality is they offer little insight and generally discuss positions that people freely offer on internet forums. I don't look on them favourably compared to any knowledgable posters on these boards (and there are quite a few knowledgable posters).

For the record, I purchased the Cheat Sheet (thus they win ultimately) because at $2.00, it's a nothing price and the lads obviously worked out they could make a little amount of money from minimal effort. I was interested to see what everyone was talking about and was left sorely disappointed with the content or more importantly, lack of. The idea is fine but when you're used to organisations such as Rotoworld (US sports) that offer in-depth analysis with their "Cheat Sheets", this document was sorely lacking.

You were reading my mind, also typing it out would be far different aswell, change the captain/vice captain, chane one or two rookies and your clear.

That is already available for free on their website. For some people buying the cheat sheet is done for little more than a means to throw them a miniscule tip for that work.

No, cheat sheets provide a detailed analysis and breakdown of player, position and performance projections. They also provide projected positional rankings to establish a hierarchy. In my opinion, DTT's was a below average effort.

The lads at DTT could very easily have put the document into an excel form spreadsheet with a few important tidbits, projected price increases in the earlier rounds etc. You're better off spending the $19.99 upgrading to the internal pro function of Supercoach or DreamTeam.

What an interesting thread!

I haven't actually stepped foot on BigFooty turf for a long time... mainly due to how busy I am running my hack site with my mates, enjoying life and well, so I don't feel dumber by reading things that Dunn Well Dunn posts (obviously things haven't changed much in the last few years... bring on another card, because I can't tolerate fools).

Some things after reading some comments.
  • Maybe our definition of 'Cheat Sheet' is all wrong?! Our first one two years ago was a 1 page doc with a team on it for free. We put some symbols on there showing locks that all three of us had in common, and some handy hints. We don't make much money out of this thing that was once a hobby so we thought we'd have a crack at selling it after suggestions from friends we should do so. So we did last year. We were given a TV to give away, like a raffle, and we thought we'd put our 3 actual teams on there. Something that there was a demand for - probably not from the folks on BF though. This year, we did the same... but also had the winner from last years starting team as well as a bonus as I know I would be interested in seeing that. The other content was added to put some more stuff in there for 'value' for money and to add to the read - not that it would need it in my opinion, the cheat sheet has always been set up to show teams with some commentary around them.
  • The target market isn't the hardcore DTers. It's those who need help to pick their sides... it's for the 100 or so mates, colleague, acquatances ... and now hundreds of people on Twitter, Facebook, etc who would like our advice and top selections. Here is a way of putting that out there. However, others also purchase as a 'thanks' for the efforts on our site.
  • Maybe you're too good for DT Talk, and that's cool, it's certainly not the be all and end all of fantasy footy sites, but I am proud of the product that we have built over the 7 years we've been running. We're getting a lot of traffic, so we must be doing some things right. And if you honestly think there isn't good content on there, I can point you in the direction of some very, very good reads.
  • Copyright or not... why would you feel like posting something like this on BF? Just to be a hero? Yeah, good one legend.
Thanks to all who have supported us... for the others, good luck this year. We are hacks and anything we produce couldn't be quality, so don't stress about us or any of the Cheat Sheet purchasers taking away the $50K you think you're going to win.

Your cheat sheet is too cheap Warnie! Haven't you learnt anything from Chief here on BF? FFS he charges $20 for platinum membership which is pretty much the same as the free membership. Channel your inner Dhu Warnie, I'm sure no one will think any less of you guys for making a few bucks out of all the hard work you put into giving quality & sometimes questionable DT advice.

I understand that but I just don't agree with spoon feeding people teams when your site already provides enough material if people want to put together a team. I think too many people will just copy your teams which takes away the advantage for people that put the time into researching.
At the end of the day, it's not a major issue. It's just something that I don't agree with and I'm sure it won't bother you guys. I also have no problem with you guys charging money for it, in fact I also believe you should charge more.

I don't think many on here think they are too good for DT Talk or that you guys are hacks. The majority of us use your website for research and appreciate the work that is put in.

Anyway, good luck for the year :thumbsu:

Good to see you here, Warnie. Your site has been my favourite source of DT information over the last few years. I am glad to see you guys gaining recognition, with Maxy and Rocky joining in on your last show. You can rightly feel proud of what you have made.
