We rate it lower than last year's pool

Thanks UTG - probably just as well we will be moving up the ladder in the near future then!

Reporting for duty.

Interesting draft this one. Lots of big bodied midfielders, some real high end key forwards and a dearth of ruck men/key defenders.

Similar depth to 2012 NUFC. Some clubs rate this years draft quite highly and others are not very enthusiastic.

Interesting to see how different clubs hold different assessments of draft pools.

Is there any talk if there is any particular strong areas in the draft (i.e midfielders, rucks, forwards etc?).

Think we should consider an outside midfielder at this stage (though that can change pretty quickly depending on how the season pans out).

I heard the same thing UTG. We did not rate last years draft and we think this year is worse again.

IMO Billings is a top 3 pick this year. He is only behind James Aish from Norwood and Eastern Rangers KPF Tom Boyd.

At this stage I believe an outside, pacey, Lewis Jetta type would be handy.

Jay Kennedy Harris or Christian Salem perhaps?

Hi MR,
Heard a word or two about the fact that we're quite prepared to trade our first round draft pick this year because we don't rate the draft very highly. Have you heard anything about this?

A little bit, I can't really say i'm entirely confident in what I've heard. As I said in the OP, we have an eye on certain players in this year's draft so I wouldn't be surprised if we retained our pick but at a guess we also have our eye on some quality players from opposition which could potentially cost us our first round pick.

It's way too early anyway to decide to trade the first round pick. There is still a whole year of under 18s which the club needs to analyse and dissect before coming to that decision.

Find me a midfielder with speed, skills and class, somewhere between 187-192cm.

How tall is Sam Blease from Melbourne?

Tiger supporter isn't he. Has the kind of speed we need.

Played as a sub on the weekend when a whole lot of recycled spuds got a game in front of him.

If he wanted out then a 2nd round pick or player should get it done.

That would allow us take a risk with our first round pick by selecting a flashy potential star with speed. A rioli or betts type would do just fine. Basically an upgrade on Nahas that could go into the midfield at some point.

There is absolutely no way I'd give up a 2nd round pick for Blease. Maybe Melbourne would be interested in Tom Derickx. With Jamar getting on, and their younger ruckmen not able to get on the park, they need a mature, competitive ruck. Big X is the solution. ;)

Yeah I'm with those who are calling for a flanker who can link up from the midfield to the forwardline. I think Cotchin, Deledio, Martin, Conca, Tuck, Foley and hopefully Vlastuin can easily act as a gun midfield. Just tell Tuck that he's a required member and we're set.

Forward of that, what do Richmond have? Knights, Nahas, King is about it. I'd like a bit more. I think the backline is good with Chaplin, Rance, Grimes, Morris, Houli and Batchelor (Ellis), it just needs time and improvement, I'm not sure a young kid would improve it much. A guy whose role is either to use his pace or foot skills just to set up goals and not win the ball would be nice.

Someone like Lewis Jetta would be amazing.

Sounds reasonable. The way McGuanne is going the Demons could do with his matchwinning qualities as well but they'd have to pay large. He's way better than Dawes.

We rated last year's draft as average and this one below average

Want another Nahas???

If Kennedy Harris could build up some consistency, (something Nahas doesn't) then yes I believe he could be what we need.

Do you believe he could get that consistency?
