Ladies and gentlemen, I am a problem gambler, insofar as I lose. That's why I don't bet too often, as silly horses and greyhounds and football teams and women's tennis players don't understand when they should be winning and losing. But, that doesn't stop me occasionally having a punt, like I did last year on Tex winning the Coleman  etc., etc..

Just looked up a couple of things, and thought I would post them here.

which isn't surprising, although I thought this was:

really??

No pressure, Jack Martin. I'd be backing Brodie Grundy and Mitch Grigg out of that lot. All AFL awards are midfielder awards, so I don't see Jesse Hogan or Joe Daniher winning for sure. We've lost Ricky and VB so there are a couple of empty spots, and you'd think with everything Grigg had shown last year he's in the firsts for the majority of the year, if not all of it.

Thoughts?

Already got money on Griggy for the Rising Star. Don't think Martin will be as good as Crouchy and O'Meara.

My thoughts... change providers.

I'm on Dom Sheed @ $21.

Who with?

Yes, this is my Centrebet account, which I set up years and years ago... but their markets are sometimes limited and they don't have the best odds:(

I'm with Sportsbet (but have a cbet account). I usually check both to see the best odds.

SB doesn't have the line yet either.

Also Betts is paying $101.00 at TAB to win the coleman. I don't actually expect him to win it but those odds are pretty juicy

Thats bloody amazing. I wish I saw those odds!!!

Yeah $4.50 is worth a punt. Anything under $3.75 isn't.

I will be putting money on us to cover as I think it will be a bit closer than Victorian punters will. Its a Thursday night game, so will be heavily backed and I think people (aside from Crows fans) will be putting their hard earned on the cats in Geelong.

Saw we are paying $2.10 to make the 8. Well worth those odds I think.

$3.75 is still good odds, I would still take a punt on those odds, anything under $3 and I wouldnt.

$2.10 to make the 8 is a waste of time, thats investing money for 6 months for an outcome that may or may not transpire. What I am saying there are better ways to make money each round then to be on the Crows to make the 8.

If you are worried about 'investing' in an outcome that may or may not transpire - I don't think you understand betting.

I personally love the $2.10 on offer. Think we are a good chance of making the 8. Love a chance to double my money in a 6 month period.

Why would you potentially want to double your money and make it take 6 months, when there is plenty of opportunities to do that much much earlier in an AFL season, really bizarre your line of thinking ?????

The $2.10 on offer is great, but it will take you 6 months!!!! You do realize you could place your money in the bank and make at least 0.05% interest dont you over 6 months which is equivalent to $1.05 odds without doing a single thing! o_O

I dont think you have any comprehension whatsoever about gambling!

Before you talk about long term future bets, maybe you need to understand gambling better before you come on in here.

Doubling your money is a great return on investment over a 6 month period.

Putting it in an interest account would actually give you odds of about 1.025 (5% annually). So if i put $500 on the crows to make the finals today and they do - I would walk away with $1,050 in 6 months. If I do your method with my $500 and put it in a bank - I get $512.50 ($537 difference).

Also - there are opportunities to make money early on the season, however I prefer these season bets for 2 reasons.

1. It reduces 'one off' luck.
2. It enhances my enjoyment of a season.

If you are serious about betting you take juicy odds wherever you see them - regardless of the time it takes for you to recover your money.

Firstly "one off luck" happened last year and works the other way as well. There is no way any Crows supporter after the 2012 prelim thought we would not make the finals in 2013.

Secondly, offering evens for a bet that if it fails leaves you with very little time to recover from that loss in the AFL season.

Importantly, in 6 months time you should be able to double your money and more in an AFL season if you are worth your grain of salt as a punter.

If you are talking about betting for fun and "enjoyment" that is an entirely different situation.

Why $500? Why not $5000 or $50,000 what is your starting bank? How many units are you intending to bet on this result?

I am not saying that the Crows wont make the finals and that it isnt a good bet, the problem with the bet is that I could do that a lot earlier during the AFL season.

Gone with the Crows tonight, the value is with them and they want to be playing this game hard as they have about 2 weeks till their next games.

Its been a like for like replacement for the team and I believe the blue chip midfielders we have can beat the Blues.

We have a strong tall forward line which historically the blues have been troubled by. Our defence is sound with the truck reversed and packed down back.

I think we are ahead in all key areas - forward, defence and mids.

Its a trial game after all, so you bet a unit or dont bet at all.

Which is the best app? And when you win, does the dividend go straight in your account?

I need a lesson in online betting.
I have tried Betezy and Sportsbet I have found Sportsbet to suit me better and no begging phone calls.

Tom Waterhouse is a flog so not tempted to go there and Bet365 with their advertising not much better.

Basicly you open an account and get your id verified ( Sportsbet will do it online ) and you add money to your account, Paypal in my case and you have winings paid into your betting account which you can then have transfered into your Paypal/bank account.

Most places will offer credit up to you to say yes or no.
