I agree entirely. As I said, I think any misgivings or reservations on my part, come from deep within, at the back of my mind. I probably should have said it's something "I just can't put my finger on" and my previous post was really just a stab. I do recognise all the points you mention and that my reasoning is mostly illogical.I can see how some people might interpret him that way. He has an extremely dry sense of humour (as opposed to a winking at the camera overstated Jimmy Fallon sense of humour) which people can often take as arrogance or cockiness. Especially if you don't get to know the person well over a period of time. The fact that those who do saw fit to nominate him above others makes me comfortable.
I've always been a dry, sarcastic type myself so I read him differently perhaps. If he has a fraction too much self-belief, then it am happy about that because he wouldn't have overcome some of the obstacles that have been placed in front of him otherwise. And if it was misplaced arrogance, I don't think he would be the tireless workhorse and self-improver that he is.
Hard to believe anyone is drier or more sarcastic than I. So much so that as I get older, I become more aware that so many people just don't "get" me, and I find myself making a much greater effort to convey when I'm joking. So I totally get how easy it is to be misunderstood.I can see how some people might interpret him that way. He has an extremely dry sense of humour

Yeah, you're just SO sarcastic Zo.Ahem.
I agree with the blue^ but not the red.Remember that gun player in your school side, who wasnt quote the best player but worked his guts out, and expected everybody else to work their guts out and even though he was only in grade 10 and you were in grade 12 he told you off when you took the soft option, and he kinda pissed you off but you knew he was right so you just sucked it up but kinda thought he was too big for his boots and didn't maybe warm to him.
He grew up to be Tom Rockliff.
I still think Tom is more sergeant than captain material, but that may say more about me.
I can see it panning out this way... Jed stays sole captain until he is turning 30 so this season and next he will be sole captain. From there on he will be joint captain with Rocky for a further year to see how Rocky can handle being captain if he handles it well (which allows him to mature) then Adcock steps down and Rocky takes over. Rocky will be about 26 which is a prime age in todays age to be captain imo.
I think Leppa and the club got this pretty right. Brownie has to focus on himself this season. Jed will be a solid leader with the heir apparent waiting in the wings*. Transition needs to be handled well - too drastic and the best bits of a culture can be lost without realising until too late. Too slow a transition and the energy of a new era can fade away. This year Jed with Rocky the clear second in command. Next year, Rocky takes over with the others stepping into VC roles and one or two of the next generation start as part of the leadership group eg. Mayes, Clarke.

Rockliff, a Victorian who made his senior debut for Brisbane in 2009, made a point of attending draft night at the Gold Coast to add another senior club figure to the welcome of their five recruits.
