So we have to delist someone if we want to use pick 46. Papers suggest one of Pearce or Fuller.

Greenwood is hopeful of being re-rookied.

God no.

I don't mind Keitel but I would take the risk he'll still be there at 39 but wouldn't cry if he wasn't.

Zero interest in anyone Miller's size because of the number of small midfielders we already have.

I'm sure I'd be on my own though because I'd be looking at Jackson Nelson or Daniel McKenzie with one of the picks and Braydon Maynard or a slider with the other.

Hope for Keitel and Gore to slide through to 39 and 45.

45 is actually only two live picks after 39 due to Stretch and Dawson already sorted and GWS will pass on 43.

I love Bulldogs board, Blues one is sooooooooooo boring I'm not even joking lol. So much fun here

In my phantom draft trying to see what are dogs needs moving forward.

Think lost to many mid type players in off season like Cooney, Griffen, Higgins, Tutt and need a mid no doubt

Forward line 50/50 I'm still not convinced Tom Boyd can pull it off on his own, maybe Bontempelli will develop as 2nd tall but so versitile can play any position but feel at home in the mid

Now thinking maybe Ed Vickers-Willisms as do need tall backs

I thought Vickers-Willis would suit Carlton actually

didn't you actually have an interview with him already? I've heard that he is supposed to be really intelligent

the Bulldogs have Darley & Biggs & JJ who won't all play in the backline, so there is some run there

looking at Knightmares Phantom, has us taking loads of running types

I listened to a podcast on afl.com the other day and Callum Twomey was asked to
name every clubs first picks in the draft when it came to the Dogs pick 26 he
went with Lukas Webb which was a bit of a surprise. Iv'e already checked out
his highlight package on you tube and he kicks like Darren Kappler for those
old enough to remember and plays like Jimmy Bartel i did not think he looked
overly toned and was a very natural footballer. 186 cm 83 kg computers are
not my thing or i would link the vision.

Blues recruited Jaksch so doubt will go for Vickers-Willis and Jones so again doubtful on tall forward

Think maybe Lamb versitile tall like Bontempelli

Vickers-Willis is a tall midfielder though
he is 190cm, not tall enough

Lamb yeah, would be a good choice

No relation that im aware of. He'll go second or third round, however i may rate him higher than a few other posters as he is an overeager.

Highlights are on AFL website.

Looks good on the AFL video, great by foot and seems to read the ball well in the air.

Any chance Lamb is available at our first pick? Would love to pick him up to compliment our new breed of massive on ballers. Macrae, Bonti, Stevens, Stringer (eventually). Then grab a genuine speedster at our next pick.

FWIW - I took Howe in the BF Phantom trial run:
Pick #78 - Western Bulldogs: Dan Howe
Height: 191cm
Weight: 84kg
Position: General defender

General comments:
Howe is an overaged defender from the Murray Bushrangers. After having his draft year destroyed by injuries, he's been trialled forward, in defense and through the midfield and performed admirably. At the top level I see him as being more than capable of playing a valuable role down back with reasonable scope for improvement, and that's all you can ask for a pick in the fifth round.

Strengths: The biggest thing that attracts me to Howe as a footballer is his smarts. He's a really intelligent footballer that just understands the game and team structures really well. Watching him play, he's seriously clever with his positioning both in one-on-ones and around the ground. In the forward line while not a natural he is capable of finding space and attracting the ball; through the midfield he's both defensively accountable and able to attract the ball; and in defense - which is where I see him playing at AFL level - he's able to cut off the ball and intercept position with ease. He runs off his man at perfect times, guards space and sets up a counter-attack quickly and with minimal risk. He reads the ball's flight beautifully, protects the drop well and has excellent hands, allowing him to be a very dangerous drifter across half back, and deeper. He cuts off leads and puts himself in the hole effortlessly, which you desperately need for a player of his ilk. His footy IQ also shines through with the ball, taking aggressive yet clever options and making excellent decisions most of the time.

In terms of athleticism and skills, Dan is above average for his size. He doesn't have brilliant top-end pace but his speed off the mark is quite good, assisting him in changing direction and getting to the drop of the ball quickly. Around the ground it's also an asset for him, allowing him to create space on his opponent with ease and provide a marking option. He's reasonably agile for his size but he's not the kind of player that's going to sell candy and sidestep multiple opponents; it's just not him. He changes direction quite well which is vital for a player in his role. He has a pretty good vertical leap and is a superb mark, so does take the odd big mark; however, he is mostly a 'play it safe' sort of player, both with positioning and with his disposal. He's quite a neat kick with both reasonable power and excellent accuracy. Paired with his decision making it makes him a very effective rebounder. Despite his tendency to play it safe he does generate counter-attack very effectively and doesn't turn it over too often. He is prone to errant kicks now and then but very rarely does he make errors that directly result in opposition goals. As a tweener you really need that something special to allow you to be a permanent fixture at the top level and I think he's got it in spades, with his combination of acceleration, smarts and skill allowing him to play on a variety of opponents and still retain his ability to be an offensive threat as well.

What he needs to work on: Despite being such a threat on the rebound, the major issue is that he does play largely without an opponent. While he does read the play well enough to slip off his man and still play to his strengths, when isolated he does struggle a little - and this is mostly because of his physical attributes. He's reasonably strong, reasonably quick, reasonably tall and reasonably good at ground level, which doesn't exactly make him a perfect matchup for many opponents at the top level. One-on-one he's not particularly adept and does get out-muscled if isolated on powerful opponents, while smaller opponents tend to find him out at ground level. His saving grace is once again his intelligence, which often allows him to out-smart and out-position his direct opponents, giving him the upper hand to begin with. He's also relatively good at defending leads due to his ability to read the play and judge the ball quickly, as well as his speed off the mark. That said, he doesn't really shut down any of his direct opponents and that could be exploited at the top level. He's a fantastic teammate and offers brilliant support in the back half but he really needs to focus more on his own game and understand the balance if he is to offer something to an AFL side.

The other main area for concern isn't so much something he needs to work on, but it is a limitation of his game: I just don't see much scope for improvement. In my opinion he'll always be limited by his 'reasonable' attributes and get by with his extremely sound footy IQ and great hands. So I suppose if you're taking him, you're taking him as basically what he is now with the expectation of maturation but not any real extreme development. You take what you get with Howe - a versatile, mature option that provides excellent team support and counter-attack from the back line.

Where he fits: While a lot is made of the Dogs' key position defenders and how they're often taken ahold of - especially when isolated - they really get very little support from those around them and it exposes them more often than you'd like. This is where I think Howe comes in. The only two taller defenders we have that are adept at defending space, putting themselves into the hole and taking intercept marks are Easton Wood and Tom Young. Easton is best 22 quality but often needed to take dangerous smalls, which can limit his effectiveness in offering support. Tom Young has shown a lot as a loose down back but has the very same issues as Howe in that he's not fantastic one-on-one and can get exposed on both smaller and taller opposition. However, I see Howe as an upgrade on Young as he's quicker, smarter and more skilled. In my opinion Howe has a lot to offer us, playing on mid-sized opponents and really hurting them the other way.

Any chance he is developed into a midfielder?
I personally think he's wasted a bit through the middle for long stints. He plays better loose in the defensive 50, cutting off opposition attacks in the hot spot and firing back a counter with speed. I have no doubt he plays through the middle every now and then - as Tom Young did in a similar role - but I wouldn't say it's his best position.

Quite excited at the prospect of a good kick dropping to our picks. Wigg, Webb, maybe Maynard

Did he really? I've been a fan of Webb's for months. That may be a stretch based on every PD i've seen and from the games iv'e seen him play, but i really rate him. Awesome left foot on him, just needs to build his confidence and ability to stay in the game, but if he's available at any of our picks i'd be wrapped to get him. Moreso with after the 26/27's.

'Awesome left foot', why is that enough to put a bone chilling fear into me? The well has been poisoned for me, redeem your kin Macrae!

Webb goes for a hard ball though, so there is that difference

I haven't seen him play too much, but from what I've seen
he looks like a natural footballer

most of the bushranger boys who have been picked up by clubs in the last couple of years have made immediate impacts I'm sure north will be looking at some of the bushrangers smokeys to get drafted giving the success they've had with turner and atley there's been very few disappointments out of the country boys

Like the look of Webb, any chance he's there at 39?
probably should be

but a club might do something weird before then, which just means another player slides to us :p

26-Connor Blakely/Brayden Maynard/Dean Gore
27-Daniel McKenzie/Connor Menadue/Nakia Cockatoo
39-Jackson Nelson/Josh Glenn/Damien Cavka
45-Oscar McDonald/Sean McLaren/Christian Buykx-Smith/Keenan Ramsey
46-Aidan Anderson/Toby McLean/Lukas Webb/Daniel Howe

What do you think of a mixture of those players at each pick? Doubt some get to us, like Cockatoo/Blakely at one of our first two picks
& have some doubts we get McDonald with a pick after 39

really hoping we get Brenton Payne in the rookie draft, think he is currently too slim & light to be real patient with sitting on a senior list for someone that is a KPP

Would love something like that, 3 smalls and two talls would be great.
