2014 Forward line

With Mitch Clark and Jesse Hogan probably coming in, who do see being squeezed out? Can big Jack Fitzpatrick keep his spot? Will Watts be pushed down back? Will Jeremy Howe play up on a wing? I hope all of these things happen but I am not sure what will?

What would your guys ideal forward line up be?

Clark and Dawes are probably fixtures. Hogan needs to be managed properly to make sure his body holds up - it's a lot of size for an 18 year old to carry. I think he and big Fitzy will interchange for that third spot - though I have my doubts on Clark and Dawes both being fit anyway.

I think Watts is gone, and I think Howe will play where he did under Neeld.

Clark in the ruck. Has great mobility for a ruckman and with our midfield so dreadfull it certainly would help haveing someone like him in there.

I think Hogan will be playing quite a few more games at Casey next year.

And I couldn't be happier that Watts is going to need to fight hard for a spot. He's in the toughest position on the list in my opinion - if he doesn't produce good form, he will be traded as he's too valuable to leave in the reserves. Simple.

I'd pick Fitz ahead of Jamar next year to be honest.

Blease, Kent and Howe must be able to play through the midfield. Your forward 6 doesn't line up as 6 pure forwards. Geelong have Motlop, Varcoe, Johnson who all get named up forward, but spend significant time in the midfield.

Good problem to have and the reality is we will never have to worry about it. I say that because it is highly unlikely all of them will be able to get on the park at once. Injuries will make the decision for us.

but outside of WCE the Dees have always been my #2.

interested to know if Clarke can ever get back to playing in the ruck,
even if its for stints?
is his body not up to it or is it to hard to say at this point?

you guys have very tall stocks in the forward line,
maybe Clarke can spend half that time in the ruck.

his best year for Brisbane was in the ruck

Welcome joeyavalanche, good question.

In a perfect world Clark will play ruck with Dawes and Hogan playing forward (along with maybe Fitz/Gawn as another ruck/forward).

However, we don't think that will happen any time soon. Firstly, we need to give Hogan some time to develop playing on inferior defenders most weeks. That means Clark and Dawes there to take the main defenders.

More importantly Clark needs to just get on the park and play a good amount of games first. I imagine playing in the ruck would put greater stress on his body than playing FF, so he would need to gain confidence in his body first before we moved him to the middle.


While you're here, thoughts on trading S. Selwood for pick 2?
