Time to start thinking about the 2014 DRAFT.

With 4 weeks in the regular season and finals to come, its time to start looking at players which can take the next step in 2014 but may not be completely regular supercoach relevant.

Players taken in rounds 10+ can really make or break your team, so its important to pick up a couple of gems.

NOT FOR REGULAR SUPERCOACH DISCUSSION. DRAFT LEAGUE TALK ONLY.

My radar:

Wellingham - inj free preseason shoukd see him average 90+
Swallow - been getting defensive roles all year with inj interruptions, surely too good to keep those roles
Prestia - already broken out but could see him slip due to average start to the year. good 3rd or 4th mid
Zorko - 2nd year blues, could get him on the cheap, still had some big games this year
Cunnington - average slowly increasing - ready to take the next step - high tackle count, contested ball
Motlop - increasing possession counts, kicks goals
Lachie Neale - some big scores to finish the year (maybe a fwd)
Vlastuin & Ellis - should build upon great years
Guthrie - play a bigger rebounding role in the cats defence
Luke Parker - mid/fwd role left by Bolton is his
Lobbe - could step up and be a great late pick up

I have one although I will get booed for saying his name.

SHAUN HIGGINS! :D:thumbsu:

Lock him in for next year, will be super cheap too.

Surely his luck with injury has to change sooner or later doesn't it?

I'll be taking a punt and starting with him depending on if the price is right and his pre season. :thumbsu:

I thought the same this year too! And 2012.

I think he's talking about the draft leagues with unlimited trades and no 2 teams can have same player + no salary cap.

Would you start with Higgins if he was near rookie price Toxic?

No never ever, a rookie needs to play to make money. Higgins will be priced around the 300-350K range.

I'm all for getting a mid pricer or two but I'd prefer not to play if i had to pick Higgins. Everytime he moves, not even runs, just moves i expect him to go down like he's been shot with a high powered rifle from 1,000 yards.

Kreuzer! Will be the dominant SC ruck next year. Average 120+ :)

120+ - hmmmm i have my doubts, 110 maybe but he just doesnt rack up the 50 hit outs a game. Dont get me wrong I'm his biggest fan but 120 is a stretch. Very few if any rucks are capable of a 120 average.
Rucks for me next year:
Mumford ,rookie, rookie +1

I'm thinking of players who have been injured/subbed. People like Ellis or Hansen or maybe even bird as their averages are much lower than their output. I generally stay clear as those who are coming back from ACL. Mature age rookies in DEF/FWD (see goodes this year!)

He's averaging 98 if you take out his sub games, lock.

I never done SC draft league i might have a crack at it next year (is this what this thread is for? anywoo

mcviegh,Dswallow,if backmen cont to score shower then cheap @rss backline most likely be.
Gazz,p'berry,jack,etc
goldie (hot currie)
rocky,windguard,hogan heros,jmartin (if fwd or fwd/mid).

I thought the same for this year

Kreuzer averaging 110 from his 13 non injury affected games. He's definitely improved this year, especially since returning from injury. I reckon he would have gone close to a 120 average this year had his season not been injury interrupted in Rd3. Took him a couple of weeks to get going again on his return. A solid pre-season and no injuries and he will star next year, starting to come into his prime years as a ruck. I can see the improvement almost weekly.

Gingy - is that a man crush developing

Im talking about SC draft, you cant have that many GUNS in draft

I'll give a couple of names to consider for 2014 SC draft;

Suckling, ZSmith & DSwallow

JMartin (GCS) - if playing a draft comp with full midfield

Roberton - required to play 2nd & 3rd tall too much lately for Saints, when free to play as running HBF ;):thumbsu:

Wouldn't touch DSwallow with a 10 foot pole. Not good enough as a midfielder for GC so pushed to a HBF and hasn't been scoring well at all this year. Far better options.

Smith and Suckling good options.
